Oh brother, I'll bet RFC wrote his reply complete with a Snidley Whiplash (tm) fiendish chuckle! So RFC IS monitoring our discussions and an easter egg bomb has been revealed. Wonder if it gets resolved in HFQ or is it for later ... inquiring minds and all that!

:o  Stuff just got interesting.

Sooo... a recorded personality presenting itself by holograms, now dormant under the Temple? Anyone willing to bet their money (or cookies) on that?
If I'm right (not counting on it ;) ), then "take the Key to the Temple" plan, if Merlin and co. do something like this, may prove to be one of the mightiest cases of Nice Job Breaking It, Hero ever put to paper...

There is some clues and info, on the snippets of the latest book, that seem to confirm that langhorne die in kau yung's nuke attack.

I'd just taken it as the surviving angels using a holograaphic recording of L sitting there in some suitable meeting [like a video] - not at all as a recorded personality

Wouldn't even woof my cookies on it

Not only, as already pointed out, could a coherent vision be created by patching together recordings of Langhorne for playback by a half-way competent AI, but the incident needn't have happened at all.

Not only are 'ancient traditions' notoriously poor transmitters of information [visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and you'll get 3 - or is it 4? - versions of just what is housed there, all notably ancient], it's equally notoriously easy to invent them for the occasion. Even if it comes straight from the horse's mouth, when that horse is Chihiro...

Huh. I always just assumed that it wasn't the REAL room that Trynair was referring to, but that since the temple was rebuilt after the nuke he meant that it was the rebuilt temple's equivalent room to the destroyed original that Langhorne used. The text does say that the temple was rebuilt to be bigger and better than before, but it made sense that some parts of it would follow the same design as the original. But if RFC meant the statement literally ... very interesting indeed. Nice catch.

Perhaps there was the region that was blown to pieces, and some distance away was this other room used by Langhorne, that perhaps needed to be transported to its current location in order to be incorporated into the new Temple.

Please note, everyone, that RFC has neither confirmed or denied anyone's speculation. He merely said that the way he wrote it wasn't accidental. You all can draw your own conclusions from there.

That leaves us with 3 options (if Trynairs musings regarding Langhorne are about the current suite):
  1. Langhorne survived the nuke.
  2. Langhorne appeared as a hologrom in the suite.
  3. Langhorne had a PICA.
Take your pick, either way it's very interesting and the story is going to take a 90° turn because of this.

whats the bet that Langhorne is the AI personality under the temple? I doubt he'd go for a PICA though... 10 day limitations and all...

Though for all we know they could have just built an AI to mimic him, I would speculate that a primitive population who have been indoctrinated to such a severe degree would believe almost anything that they were told as long as it fit in with their beliefs.

Though I still feel confident that he died in the nuke, else the Holy Writ would not state that Kau-Yung destroyed Langhorne's mortal body... but that doesnt mean he could not appear from Heaven to speak to them does it? and if programmed to say 'follow so and so's orders' then it would give that person a great deal of additional authority.
