Pardon me, sven, but WHAT????

It sounds like some random SLN tech talking to him/herself, but for the life of me I don't get your point.

Explain, please?

how about sending the captured solly ships to Silesia for anti piracy duty under the command of officers that's been reactivated after 20 or more years in the reserve these officers would be useless in modern ships till they can be trained in refresher course but that will take time you could also man them by former Silesian navy who would be more familiar with solly level of technology that can be evaluated by these reserve officers for future service in manticore navy
you could also use a few of the ships at spindle to man the quadrant defence till new ships come out of bolthole
of course these are only stopgap meaures but it would give time for maticore to build both ships and train new people

SDs are as bad at antipiracy as they are at piracy. Unless you're escorting every single freighter, they're going to be too slow to actually catch pirates, and the "escort everyone" thing has severe drawbacks in terms of economy.

Not as much time as you'd imagine, and there's another thing: There are quite a few ships in the RMN reserve that are perfectly capable of pulling antipiracy duties; For that matter, nothing in the books indicates that Silesia has a piracy problem at this time. Recall that the RMN and the AN are policing the Confederacy right now, there's even a mention that Sarnow's Silesia command has first pick of any light forces available.

you could also man them by former Silesian navy who would be more familiar with solly level of technology that can be evaluated by these reserve officers for future service in manticore navy

I imagine that the RMN is rather unenthusiastic about employing ex-Silly officers. Also, arranging for training at Saganami or the Andermani naval college for those few Silly officers that are competent shouldn't be that hard.

Okay. One thing. You're imagining the situation to be more dire than it actually is. The problem isn't getting new ships. The currently deployed RMN fleet is powerful enough to deal with any SLN force that appears.
The problem is getting missiles for these ships. Rebuilding the missile manufacturing lines is more critical than getting more ships.

From what we have seen in the story line, Sarnow and his Aldermani counterpart probably have things fairly well in-hand as far as pirates go in Silesia. Sarnow, at least, has activly sorting out the problems with the various planetary governments to remove (actually retire, put on trial etc.) anyone that has been identified as having been a problem at so many levels. That includes basic graft & corruption, cooperating with pirates in the past or just generaly being obstructionest in blocking the implimentation of the RME legal system and inforcement. The Aldernami might just be skipping the trial parts and generaly taking a much more forcefull path but the effect is the same: get the problems out of the system.

Silesia did have both a fair number of warships in the hands of both the Silly government and SDFs for various systems. There are also systems which have had and still do have yards and infrastructure capable of building up to at least Crusier size warships and the weapons to supply them. They have not been up to Manticore or Aldermani standards of tech but warships and weapons none-the-less. They can certainly repair the existing Silesian built/SLN surplus. Activly used with a decent (and honest) crew, a former Silly DD or CL is a match for any local grown pirate. They would also be more than capable than a SLN SD at running them down and killing them.

At this point, the only reason not to kill Siliesan pirate ships on contact would be to find out where they have been getting supplies and what their contacts are supporing them. There is also the point that even a Silly or other local built warship is capable of giving the same level of planitary ground support (KEW, local tactical space control, general interdiction of forces) that SLN DDs are shown doing. MUCH better to sit an older Silesian grade DD overhead if you have to run down corrupt officials or criminal gang than an SD. It is all you need.

Too be fair, plenty of systems seem to do reasonably well discouraging piracy using only (classic) LACs; and those things lower acceleration than even SDs.

Usually what you need to suppress piracy is the willingness to run patrols out near the hyper limit to chase off lurkers. The intercept rates in hyper are way too poor to pay off for pirates; to prosper they need systems that are rich enough draw prizes while being unable to find or chase off ships lurking in the outer system waiting for those prizes to appear.

It's nice to be able to engage and kill the pirate, but like u-boats in WWI & II the more important thing it just to be able to chase them off so they can't make a score. Even when the pirates can run away that significantly reduces the chance that they'll be in position to capture a merchant. And if you still do manage it, even LACs bearing down on you makes it harder to get away with the ship or it's cargo.

But even ignoring their acceleration, SDs are way too costly and high maintenance to use for those patrols. And then, as you point out you've got plenty of higher quality (and often quicker) tube-SDs in mothballs from Manticore, Grayson, and Haven. So even if you did want to waste money using SDs to patrol for pirates, why use the inferior SLN ones?
