The illustrious author has noted that there was an original Commando Cody, Sky Marshal of the Universe, who was in some sense the inspiration for Seijin Khody. Unlike most of you, I was old enough to have watched this television show when it first came out. You can now see it on YouTube, though the image quality is a bit disappointing, the opposite of Captain Z-Ro, where the YouTube image is superior to period TV reception.

I shall let you all watch it for yourselves, though it is noteworthy that Commando Cody's atomic rocket is more advanced than the Star Trek ship in one respect...it has seat belts for the acceleration chairs. Also, for all that this is an early 1950s show, the ship has a crew of 3, Cody, and one man and one woman. Surprise of surprises, she is shown as being as technically competent as the rest of the crew, and flies the ship into battle.

Because of the mask that Commando Cody wore I confused him with the Lone Ranger when I was much, much, much younger... They wore the same style mask...

Are you guys lookin' for the senior discount?! I gotta go with Flash Gordon. That was a rocket ship! Arborea! And the Mud people! Dale Arden was the woman every guy dreamed of, (we were only 10 or 11) short skirts, and the only thing she did well was fall into the hands of evildoers. Dr. Zharkov was pretty cool.

When I first read of Cody, my thoughts were Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen and One drink of wine, One drink of gin and I'm back in the Ozone again. definitely the wrong reference.

I already get the senior discount. They take one look at me and think: "this guy is ancient!!" It's been a long time since anybody has even bothered to ask....

I'm not sure whether to feel complimented or insulted!

Senior discount eh, the one they give for youngsters (55) at walgreens, or the more serious one given required (to use gold tees) at the golf course for seniors at the tournaments (70). Or as my father puts it , you are senior if you've outlived your life expectancy for at least 10 years.
