Most Ball club names came from a historical link -- example the "Dodgers" name came from the trolley dodgers -- their fans who dodged the Brooklyn trolleys to get to Ebbets Field.

We don't know enough to make good decisions here (but when has THAT ever stopped this forum.

That said -- bring on the wild guesses (or wild pitches)

Don't forget local flavor or reference like the Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, Houston Astros, Colorado Rockies Green Bay Packers, San Francisco Forty-niners and Houston/Dallas Texans.

Also team names have morphed over the years. The Cincinnati Reds used to be known as the red stockings and New York Knicks were the knickerbockers.

You could have a team like the Austin Grayson's that has morphed into the Gray's

A few others, based on Steading colors (but more boring in name) might be:

Mueller Reds -- Mueller Steading colors were yellow and red

Owens Greys or Owens Blues -- Owens Steadholder's Guard used blue and gray for their uniforms

a Harrington minor league team might be the Harrington Greens

but Somehow, I just can't see the Mayhew Maroons -- ref Bugs Bunny "What a Maroon !!"

Mueller Mustard or Mueller Yellow Streaks would be more appropriate -- certainly nothing "Red Denoting Courage" in classic heraldry meanings.

Henke's Hexapumas - Just to get back at Honor for that baffling lesson on the rules of baseball.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense
