I can see Sir Koryn and Earl Coris and possibly Charlz Doyle. I think the other earls are a bit too much of a stretch...

Agreed about the Earls.

I wonder about timing for Koryn and Charlz. I believe Koryn might profit from learning about Inner Circle when he is in the Gulf of Dohlar campaign. Having the benefits of immediate communication and real time intel might just be too attractive a set of tools for a soldier to reject in a conflict. He is fighting for everything he holds dear and will use anything he can beg borrow or steal to ensure those treasures survive. I would wait until Koryn is in or soon to be in a conflict with other lives at stake before I tell him.

Earl Coris has a similar profile as Koryn. I beleive they are much more driven by personal loyalties that anyone else in Corisande. Show him the bullet proof undies and surveillance tech that will keep his charge and son of his best friend and Prince alive. He will take the leap of faith required by the Truth for that reason if no other even if he believes he might lose his soul in doing so.

Charlz is a matter of time and observation. As analytical as he is, he will likely not respond immediately even if he rejects the Truth. Both he and Koryn are far less risky than telling Nynian and Sandaria. Coris is the least risky of the lot.

Charlz is a curious sort though - he may fall into one of the sorts of problems Baron Seamount does: in danger of falling into Terran Federation records and not coming out.

Indeed so. I suspect Charlz will not have the same anger towards what the command crew denied humanity as it is suspected Seamount will have towards them.

They all need to be kept under observation. But I think that all three of them would be ok. I agree with your observation about Charlz not having the same level of anger as Seammount. In contrast to Seamount's passionate nature, Charlz waxes cool and analytical.

Hi Don,

Personally I'd like to see both earls in the inner circle, since it would provide a more mature and wise perspective on some things.

I think both earls have already shown remarkable flexibility, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were at least entered into the 'outer circle' that know Merlin has visions; although I've suspected for several books they might not be trusted even though we learn at their deathbeds they could have been, because they already suspected so much.

It might work out ok. They have shown quite a bit of flexibility as you say. But although they are honorable men who will be faithful to their oaths, my sense is that their primary loyalty is still to Corisande rather than to the Empire. Koryn, by way of contrast, seems well on his way to making that shift toward the Empire.

I'm not criticizing that, by the way. But it could be a factor in deciding who you admit to the inner circle.
