The Snippet makes one wonder if OWL should be looking through the passenger lists for the name and history of the person who won those hand to hand combat contests? Might they be the Demon who defeated Cody.

Yep! It's in the Wakeforest Manual of Snippeting. I think it's the later part of Ch3, but I only got a quick look. Drak should be able to give you the exact citation.

When I was searching for the above snippet for wingfield, I had to adjust my thinking, again. I recall that Kohdy wrote that the fight against Kau-yung's followers was not going well. I also recall that the fight was eventually won, and that seijin always fought on the side of the Light. I leaped to the conclusion that Scheuler's followers came across the idea of creating seijin because the fight wasn't going well, and that creating seijin allowed them to win because, for whatever reason, Kau-yung's followers weren't able to duplicate the feat.

I had to adjust my thinking because near that snippet I found another cite that Kau-yung's followers did have seijin, they just weren't called that. They were called demons instead. So, I'm back to seeing the fight against Kau-yung's followers not going well, but eventually being won, and not knowing why. Did Scheuler just have a better pool of proto-seijin to draw from? Was the fact that the battle wasn't going well unrelated to the creation to seijin? Was I right in the first instance that Kau-yung's followers couldn't create seijin? How have you been imagining the war against the fallen proceeding?

Take care of yourself, whatever that involves, so you and your family can have many more years together.

Of course, we readers would miss you as well!

As some of you may have heard, things have been a little . . . hectic around Casa del Weber the last few days. I more or less collapsed Thursday morning when by a pulse rate bottomed out at around 34 beats per minute. Now, I've always had a relatively low pulse rate, but that was just a tab low even for me. As it happened, two of our close friends who also happened to be EMTs were at the house when this happened, so they hauled out their magic bags, took my pulse, check my blood pressure, listen to my lungs, and then ratted me out to my GP. And he (not too surprisingly, I suppose [he said grudgingly]) sent me to the ER and the ER stuck me in a hospital bed overnight.

They let me go home Friday afternoon, but with a portable cardio monitor that I have to wear 24-hours a day. We have conventions in Canada and Minneapolis coming up over the next two weekends, and we are scheduled to leave for Canada this Thursday. My newly acquired cardiologist understands that it's important for me to make the trip, and he's promised to work with us on that, but he's also made it plain that if the stress tests I'll be undergoing in the next couple of days and the readout from this portable monitor don't make him happy, he's not going to let me go. In which case, these will be the first two scheduled conventions I've missed in 25 years. I am hoping very much to keep my record intact, but things are sort of out of my hands in a lot of ways. For example, Sharon has informed me that she has a hammer and I have kneecaps and they could find themselves enjoying a close relationship if I tried to get on the plane after Doctor Stewart tells me I can't go.

If you have a stress test and are driving across the border on your way home(cuz you can't fly), be warned you may get stopped at the border. Have your doctor's note handy with the isotopes they use on the test. I had a friend set off some alarms after a test and they pointed a Ghostbuster machine thingy at her to get an isotope reading. Not sure if the airport does it too.

I am not completely sure about the answer to this, but I have the impression that the winning side had full access to the tech base and the losers didn't.

Or perhaps their tech base received a high velocity tap from above once its location was finally known....We do know that a number of kinetic strike took place between Alexandria and the final hit on St. Khody's.

Hi, David

IMHO, it sounds to me like you should skip the trips and get a full workup from your cardiologist before you do anything strenuous - like sitting in an <expletive deleted> airplane seat for multiple hours. Having just returned from my first airline trip in 3 years, I have to say the experience was a lot worse than I remembered - a mime in a box comes to mind. And that was with a boring flight and a nice flight crew.

Anyway, get some rest and figure out what is wrong! Obey your wife and your doc - realistic priorities here :) . Your fans may miss you if you're not there, but they'll miss you a lot more if you get seriously ill or worse. If your writing speed suffers because you need more rest, we'll certainly understand. Your wife and kids need you a lot more than your fans.

Such true words, Family is more important than anything else. We might all dislike it if he could not finish telling us the stories, but we would move on. His family would miss out on all the other good things he does that we do not get to be a part of, the things that make him who he is and tell the great stories he does.

Plus did the rebels have access to the weapons needed to fight the seijins. the seijins had the air cars, repair ships, sickbays, and battle steel, did the deamons have those too? If the rebels were without all those things they would be fighting with limited resources. Knowing what to do and being able to do it are two different things. The Daemons may have had the upper hand with the surprise of the pocket nuke, but with all the resources the angels had, a few seijins with a lot of fire power could overtake a lot of daemons with primitive weapons
