Tagged as spoilers as some might not have read far enough to want this kind of complete set.
But quick question, is there a comprehensive list somewhere that includes everyone inducted into Merlin's inner circle as of LaMA? I'm currently in the chapter of LaMA where (not much of a spoiler but I am describing part of the story here, so again, tentatively a spoiler) Howsmyn, Dom Staynair, Ironhill and Taigys Mahldyn are discussing new artillery and I cannot for the life of me remember if Ironhill had been inducted or not, and it makes the dialogue confusing. Just curious if anyone had a complete list they could post, it would be an incredibly useful reference for me. |

No spoiler warning needed here. Forum convention calls for them discussing bits from books out a month or less, and snippets from books not yet published. (Yeah, I know, I forget myself on the snippets a lot - I'm better about remembering what the rules are than following them, darn it.) If there is such a list, I don't have it. It would be handy for someone to refer to re-reading at least or constructed as they go. The Safehold wiki has an entry for it, but it's badly out of date, if it was exhaustive at any time. I can't recall if Ironhill was a member then or yet with confidence, but I think not. |

Yeah, I checked the Safehold wiki but I don't think it's been updated since probably BHD. If no one has one, I might compile one here in the next week or so. Thanks for the bit about the spoilers, I read the rules but still erred on the side of caution. Edit: turns out Ironhill was, at the time of me reading anyway, a member of the "outer" inner circle that knew of Merlin's "visions", but hadn't been fully admitted yet. |

Ironhill isn't a member of the inner circle as of LaMA: "Ohlsyn — the Earl of Pine Hollow and the Empire’s first councilor—was Nahrmahn Baytz’ cousin, although he was as wiry as Nahrmahn had been plump, and his brain was very nearly as sharp. He was also—like Howsmyn and Rock Point but not Ironhill—a member in good standing of the inner circle." Ironhill does know that "Merlin has visions" though. "The fact that Ironhill knew about Seijin Merlin’s “visions” had made things surprisingly simple after Prince Nahrmahn dropped his little Silverlode Island surprise..." I don't have a full list - there's no way to actually compile one, since many members of the brethren of St. Zherneau's are unnamed priests. As for the members we know about and can put names to, I'll start the list. Inner Circle members as of LaMA: Merlin Nimue Cayleb Sharleyan Howsmyn Archbishop Staynair Admiral Staynair Nahrmahn Baytz Ohlyvya Baytz Pine Hollow Rock Point Hektor Irys Doctor Sahndrah Lywys Rahzhyr Mahklyn Paityr Wylsynn Baron Green Valley Sir Dustyn Olyvyr That's all who occurred to me off the top of my head. Please feel free to add those I overlooked to the list. Also there are some who will soon be inducted, or who will never be inducted for various reasons. Please fill in the blanks for those if you can - I know I'm not even close to naming all of them. SPOILERS!!!!!!!! Coming soon... Doctor Zhansyn Wyllys (Petro chemical expert) Aivah Sandaria (if she isn't put in cryo) Desperately needed... Earl Hanth!!!! Earl Highmount Never gonna happen... 1) Because it would destroy them: Ironhill Eastshare 2) Because they'd want to scream the truth from the rooftops: 3) Because they'd get lost in Owl's records: Baron Seamount (also reason 2) Taigys Mahldyn 4) Because they're doing exactly what Merlin needs them to do - innovating on their own: A whole bunch of Howsmyn's people Dr. Lywys until recently (I was surprised!) Baron Seamount's entire staff (OWL cheats for them) "Oh bother", said Pooh as he glanced through the airlock window at the helmet he'd forgotten to wear. |

Is there textev for your grouping on Eastshare? I would have thought rhat he would be a candidate for the inner circle eventually. But perhaps I am missing something. Don When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

Eastshare is a bit conservative - really, every way except when it comes to loyalty to the Crown over the nobility and substituting military protocol for civilian protocol within the Army. That would make swallowing the whole truth really difficult for him, and he's also in the category of doing mighty well already with the "Merlin has visions" level of information. I don't think it's been considered and rejected the way it was for (e.g.) Earl Grey Harbor (or if it has, I can't cite a spot for it either), but I'd say MacGuiness has an at least highly plausible assignment there. |

I can see Sir Koryn and Earl Coris and possibly Charlz Doyle. I think the other earls are a bit too much of a stretch... Don When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

Hi Don,
Kudos for excellent list off the top of your head. Slight nit; Rock Point is also Admiral Staynair. Other than that a commendable list except you left off Sergeant Edwyrd Seahamper, Sharleyan's bodyguard, who's been on the inside for almost 4 years. I don't recall anyone else, off the top of my head. Keep smiling, L
Any snippet or post from RFC is good if not great!

Koryn is smart, and has been asking himself hard questions for some time. ( For example, he is still hunting the bullet fired at Sharly. ) Coris IS coming very soon, he is the adviser to Daivyn. I can see Chalrz Doyle as a possibility as well, good call. |
