IIRC, there aren't any treecats going to New Berlin.

Unless they have trouble with that awful German language.

I wonder if the many different languages cause 'cats concern.

It would not be difficult to make a TSL for the AE whose primary languages are probably German and Chinese. Most of the sign languages have language specific signs but the base signs are based in english. Dr Arif has probably developed a TSL variant for Spanish, for any adoptees native to San Martin.

No doubt Saber. In fact, a form of sign language for German already exists, German Sign Language or Deutsche Gebärdensprache is the sign language of the deaf community in Germany. It is often abbreviated as DGS but it has known to be frowned upon by many Germans. It is grammatically different than the language, and the mechanics is different from our signing. They use one-handed spelling.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Sign_Language

My niece, who speaks sign because of a close friend made me privy to the problems of German sign some time ago.

Factor that in with the awful language and the fact that the Andermani may not wish to go to the trouble to learn sign just to communicate with the 'cats, and the fact that the form of signing used by the 'cats has already been altered, well...

Eh ... the language issue would only come up for the treecats' understanding of the human speaker's words, not the empathic sense of the human. They loose knowledge of the meaning, but know the emotional intent behind the words - functionally, it'd be a throwback to the days between when they figured out that humans communicated via sounds and when they learned how to understand the sounds.

As far as sign languages go ... while there may be locally used languages, knowledge and proficiency in English (or its Honorverse descendant/form) appears to be functionally universal as well, although local dialects and slang probably happen, there's a core that effectively everyone knows/understands, that is supported/maintained as functionally universal via documents for spelling and recordings (news or entertainment) for the pronunciation.
I'd expect that there are some more or less universal elements of sign language as well.

I don't have it with me right now, but check the last few chapters of A Rising Thunder. Honor offers Treecats to Chien Liu Andermann during her meeting prior to Chien Liu's meeting with Elizabeth.

That was for the offer to interrogate Herlander, not for them to go to New Berlin:
“I’ve been instructed by Empress Elizabeth and President Pritchart to inform you that if you wish to personally interview Dr. Simões, you’ll certainly be free to do so. For that matter, if you wish, you can bring along an intelligence expert of your choice. And we’re also willing to provide a treecat to tell you whether or not Simões is telling you the truth in response to specific questions.” She shrugged. “I realize we’d providing the treecat, but it’s the closest we can come to providing a lie detector without risking triggering any suicide protocols that might be hidden away down inside him.”

Honor's conversation with Anton sets us up to expect it to be Mike. But she is operating outside of the Manticoran command loop. She will definitely be asynchronous to what ever the IAN is doing.

Could Mike drop into Mesa only to have Chien Lu ask, "What took you so long?"

Yes.

When the forces came over the "wall" in Mesa that event took place in October 1922 PD. The meeting where Chien Liu said he would recommend to Gustav to take Elizabeths offer was in June 1922 PD and the IAN pulled back to Trevors Star and Mike made her decision to head to Mesa after taking Meyers (and sitting there for 2 T-Weeks) at the end of August 1922 PD.

Then if you look at the map in the front of Shadow of Saganami you will find that Meyers is roughly about 221 LY away from Mesa. Now it all depends on if Elizabeth and Beowulf let the IAN send a task force through the Manticore Junction to Beowulf (remember they pulled back to Trevors Star so it is just one trip through one terminus to another) and jump from there.

The IAN had over two months extra time compared to Mike to send a task force to Mesa (All of July and Aug plus part of June). Mike OTOH makes her decision to leave Meyers at the end of August, however we don't see her actually leave at that time she could have been delayed.

You mean go through to Lynx, not Beowulf. Access to Mesa via Beowulf is through the wormhole at Visigoth. The IAN would not be sending warships to attack Mesa on that route unless they absolutely had to, and they wouldn't.

The only downside to the IAN going through Lynx is that it takes more time to reach Mesa, but it's certainly safer and more secure.

There is absolutely no reason Manticore would prevent the IAN from using the Junction to get at Mesa. The IAN being free to go after Mesa was, after all, the entire point behind splitting the Andermani off from the Grand Alliance - let the Andies go for Mesa while the rest tried to smack reason into the League.

No. At least, not if they went through the MWJ. And why wouldn't they?

At the end of Cauldron of Ghosts, Honor tells Zilwicki about Henke's decision to take Mesa. She knows Henke's ETA. Do you think she'd jerk him around if she also knew an Andy task force was going to get there a week earlier?

She leaves a "couple of days" after deciding to do so.

Whoever it was did not go through Beowulf. The fleet came through hyperspace, not the Mesa-Visigoth wormhole bridge. So they did not go from Beowulf to Visigoth. Beowulf is much further away from Mesa than the Lynx Terminus. There would be no point going through Beowulf if Lynx was much closer.
