Merlin et al have the resources and time to prepare the re-education of the leaders of the CoGA. They've seen what happens with Sandra and her 'failure to accept' the overarching historical reality. Wouldn't it be in the best interest of all if technology in the form of holograms, like the Key of Schuler, of the 'accepted' Archangels explain their history in the form of a diary/journal entries. The cave has the ability to make realistic movies/holograms/documentaries that would project the Archangels as more human and flawed rather than evil. They could have Schuler present his 'original' version of the Book and then the Archangel who altered it to the 'current' version give their reasons. They could do this with all the Books Merlin noted differences with after waking in the cave. They could use excerpts from Khody's journal too, and other 'Testimony'. Doing this rather than plunging everyone back to the reasons Safehold was founded may be a better first step. What say you?

I think your idea here has eventual merit. However use of things as technologically advanced as you are suggesting would probably have a lot of people rounding up pitchforks and torches to go after the heretics at this point of the story.

Also remember that you are restricted to pre-electric forms of power for the indeterminate future which would rule out holograms, etc.

Eh ... it seems that Federation-level tech, while it may or may not be tracked/monitored by the OBS's sensor systems, is not something that it is programmed to automatically target or alert on. Remember, the Wylsynn Key and the Verifier in the Staff of Schueler don't get shot at, and they've been around for centuries.
I suspect, though cannot prove, that the electricity trigger is related to early forms of power transmission, ie, an electrical grid (or the beginnings of one, anyways).

A larger obstacle to schoeffelk's plan is that it would be a massive fabrication, and Merlin and co have been avoiding outright lies, knowing that the truth will eventually come out, and even one lie would cast their credibility into doubt.
There is also the fact that Merlin, and likely Nimue, are entirely determined to end the CoGA forever, to make it exist only in history books as an unfortunate period of time in human history, not just to reform it.

I fully agree that there should be no more intentional lying around Safehold's origins.

As for your other comment, you are quite correct to note that the OBS hasn't reacted so far to what Merlin has done. However the scale needed to implement such a reeducation campaign would be much bigger and no one knows what, if any, the threshhold for triggering a response might be.

And this doesn't even take into account the public response would be to the appearance of TF tech. I suspect it wouldn't be pretty.

A solid point, but what scale is actually needed?

Once the Temple has been seized, sending the Grand Vicar alone on a religious retreat to the Brothers of Zherneau might accomplish a lot by itself.
