One minor Hutch like quibble- brontosaurus? I thought they renamed them apatosaurus?[/quote]
Kind of. The original group that was called the Brontosaurus, turns out they were just examples of juvenile Apatosaurus. However, earlier this year it was decided that two of the species that were in the genius Apatosaurus were different enough to get their own genus, and the new genus was called Brontosaurus. So while Brontosaurus excelsus is no longer a thing, Brontosaurus parvus and Brontosaurus yahnahpin now exist. ________________

This was reminded to me by a new addition in the quote thread, as three people from rather different backgrounds find a common cause in humor and civil debate (something lacking these days).

Storm from the Shadows
What's that saying? "If you're gonna play with the big dogs, you gottta do more than bark." - Is what Elizabeth is telling her. "Step up to the plate," of course Elizabeth would so quickly adopt a bat as a ruling stick. Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

In Enemy Hands
A very humorous but poignant passage that gets me every time. However, the bold that is mine is quite surprising. How can Honor be wrong about Sonja's technical acumen, being that her empathic sense bears witness to it? Yet, how can she be right, as Sonja's technical genius speaks for itself? And if she really is less of a technician than a strategist - knowing how much of a technical genie she really is, then she is one hell of a strategist then isn't she?! This passage seems to bear a bit of contradiction and confusion. Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

Doh! No wonder it didn't make any sense. And I read it several times! I'm overworked. Need a vacation! And it's not so much my career and research obligations. These darn wedding preliminaries are getting way out of hand like a nuclear reactor without control rods! Physically and emotionally exhausting. But I love Gemma. I love Gemma. I love Gemma... I keep telling myself! Thanks Bob. My apologies, everyone. . Last edited by cthia on Mon May 11, 2015 11:08 am, edited 2 times in total.

So I dipped into "Echoes of HOnor" and pulled out this gem.
We've seen a lot of Hamish Alexander during this series, but we didn't see much 'into the heart' of the man. At least until we read this:

I've been pretty well-behaved, only posting once a week or so here, but since I was browsing "Echoes of Honor" for this week's passage, I kept reading and found this one I'm 90% certain hasn't been added to this thread.
And it damn well should be and I'm not waiting. Two announcements and one toast, or why this grumpy old agnostic is so fond of the Graysons.

Really nice post Hutch. My ears are still ringing and eyes still stinging from the emotionally charged thunderous commotion.

OK, it's Monday morning and time for me to find another passage that is (1) Memorable and (2)Isn't being added to this thread for the second (or third) time.
Believe me, it isn't easy. Lucky for us that RFC has written so much good stuff. This one is somewhat unique (less so as the MWW has repeated chapters on more than one occassion lately) in that it appears in two books..and is worth repeating from either of them. Death, Life, and Sacrifice. And why they are called Lara's Own... From At All Costs and Torch of Freedom:
