The textev we have is that the original colonists were completely memory wiped and that they were born with no memory of their true past but supplied with a false set of memories when they woke up on the Day of Creation. That could scarcely be otherwise since waking up with the memory of an infant would scarcely have provided them with coping skills to survive in their new home.

Kodhy's situation is different. There really isn't indication of memory wipe at all since he remembers, at least vaguely, volunttering to fight against the fallen. It seens to me that what happened is that all the stuff poured through his neat to provide him with his seijun skills overlaid and interfered with his memory rather than wiping it altogether.

That's my take on it anyway.

I wonder what could be done with this sacred sickbay?
Because I'm thinking it's a full blown sickbay capable of doing anything the Terran Federation needed.

Yeah, probably...although it would be geared toward meeting anticipated need of a ship's crew rather than, for example, providing geriatric care. Also, the medical computer was able to attend to Sharleyan's situation, but that may well not be where its strongest specialty would be.

On a warship a sickbay would be geared toward dealing with wounds and other trauma experienced in combat. That isn't to say that it couldn't do the other stuff, but it would be set up with that set of expectations in view.

Since Owl was a tactical computer, perhaps that can be taken as an indicator that a medical facility such as found on a warship would have been in Nimue's cave.

THe real question is what did they use the sick bay to teach khody, or even remember. They couldnt make him super loyal, but they could have taught him alsorts of things to make him a greater warriors.

Yep. And one wonders about the price he had to pay to get the skills in terms of memory, disposition and possibly other things. I'm a rather firm believer in the notion that there is no such a thing as a free lunch...

Well - he got alienated from his culture and eventually quietly killed due to the doubts spawned by his circumstances following becoming a seijin and fighting as one. So there's a charge.

Otherwise, in many ways, the seijin were just getting back some of what Bedard took from all the Adams and Eves. They'd already paid for it with routine Terran Federation surgery and education.

Hi Don,

I think the vague memories Khody is referring to are those of his life on Safehold, not before they were wiped.

It may be what the enemy seijin did is add the Spanish and history when he learned Khody's original Safehold name, as he couldn't do more to restore his memories, but it was enough to get him doubting.

Another question is why and how was the war against the fallen going badly?

That hasn't been chewed over yet, if asked I don't recall.

So assuming the 'fallen' lost their tech with Shan-wei, why were they winning?

Because the 'fallen' weren't all originally 'fallen'?

Evidently the surviving Langhorne partisans so fragmented that some had more access to federation tech than others and seijins were an attempt to cope which somehow succeeded, I don't know how given the assumed capabilities and power of the federation tech.

If RFC is not going to confuse us, we're going to get some background that might put all past info dumps that some complain about to shame.

Perhaps we have only another 6 days to find out more details.

If Khody's journal is 'discovered', verified and proclaimed soon, Clyntahn and the Go4's reaction to the archangel victory possibly being a fluke would be fascinating. 8-)

However the most likely reaction would be to denounce it as blasphemy, to not suggest, but declare the archangels were mortal men.

However serializing on OWL's broadsides at least would get the idea out there, but I'm not sure Nynian would want to put the SSK in the cross-hairs of all enraged CoGA believers, especially when there may be more effective tactics.

Blackmailing the remaining Go3 members and vicarate with the truth [details known only in their oldest and most closely held records etc] could provide all sorts of advantages for the alliance and empire after this war ends.

Could Rhobair Duchairn accept it?

Would he?

Might he or whoever takes over the CoGA [the question is who?] become an outer inner circle member, knowing some things like Khody's r3evelations and Merlin seeing visions, but not aware there's an even inner circle fully equipped.

Given how RFC has abstracted any quotes from St Zherneau's journal etc, there might not be much more for us to read [darn it!] except Merlin thinking and commenting about various parts [as he did with Jeremy Knowles'] with Nynian and the rest of the inner circle.

140 days to go...

L

Well, the most probable reason - is the disorganization and internal struggle between Archangels after the descturction of the central command. Those who remain lost not only the head command; they also lost a lot of data.

Also, the problem may be that the majority of the Fallens were military personnel, and the majority of the remaining Archangels were civilians. They simply lack the training and planning capabilites. Eventually, it seems that they found the right solution - and tried to hit the Fallens with number, pressing the re-programmed colonists (AKA Seijins) into military.

Hi guys,

I agree with Lyonheart that the memories refered to for Kohdy had to be from Safehold. His memories prior to Safehold had been wiped along with those of the other Adams and Eves.

I agree with Dilandu that the Fallen were probably military which would account for their initial success. I would suspect that they lost in the end because the other guys had access to the tech data base.

My guess is that in the end they lost when their base location was identified and obliterated by the OBS - no base, no spares, no medical support, no communications, no command and no control. Logistics vs tactics, tactics wins battles, logistics wins wars (at least if the war has more than one battle).
