If you think about it the inner circle is a secret order that is in control of one of the largest empires of the world and that empire is slowly spreading its control along with the influence of the inner circle to affect more secret orders.

Just a fun thought.

Tinfoil hats are advised.

THERE IS NO TINFOIL IN SAFEHOLD NO WONDER THE INNER CIRCLE IS SO SUCCESSFUL!!!

The problem with your comparison is that the Illuminati works behind the curtains while the inner circle is more or less center stage in a war. ;)

Well, if the NWO and dozen other conspiracy theories are to be believed, being a center stage is kind of a must when setting up the Illuminati ;) It's their secret actions that should be hidden.

Hey, just an idea - imagine if the Inner Circle that started now in Safehold books would continue into the future, like freemason-esque organization, only more hidden. What if in future-Gbaba-fighting books we'd see some descendants of IC still manipulating the events from behind the curtain, making sure the humanity is set on the best path? I think it would be pretty healthy for Merlin - to have some sort of circle of entrusted, so to put it. A stable point in his thousand-or-so-years-long existence.

Secret societies and undercover organisations just roam the unfortunate planet Safehold. It looks like the Inquisition arenb't very good in their job; there are spies and actual heretics everywhere, and they didn't even notice that! Clyntah surely should use more effective methods

"If you would work with determination,
Grab all around without discrimination,
Maybe on the million,
You will catch a freemasons"

(Old russian humorous lyric "Remedy against Freemasons", heh)

Oh well, if shortening the front is what the Germans crave,
Let's shorten it to very end - the length of Fuhrer's grave.

I also think the problem with your comparison is that Illuminati works behind the curtains. Even many have no idea who is in the illuminati. I have heard that Paris Hilton is also the illuminati member but no one can be sure.
