For me it doesn't matter. Same reason I haven't worn a watch in 9+ years. I am retired.
The only thing the time matters for is mostly if I need to go shopping, the store opens when. When I am traveling, it gets light, it gets dark. Have fun, T2M -----------------------

In my humble opinion, daylight savings time in the USA is just another failed attempt at government mind control. It worked kinda alright (maybe it did not either) for war production in world war two, but today it has outlived its usefulness.
Just another way government mettles with our lives. However ... and I am sure this comes and goes; how about CONSIDERING a second way of keeping time? Optional Greenwich Standard, plus local time? That way the whole world would be on the same dial? HB of CJ (old coot) The key word here is optional. |

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver made a short segment about daylight savings time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=br0NW9ufUUw. Briefly it was intended to reduce energy consumption during WW1 in Germany. When Indiana started it in 2006 energy consumption increased 1%.

This is a repeat from a similiar post in another forum. I will NOT tell you a true story from long ago and far away where some young august dumb man drove a Fire Engine for a living. A cool job.
One fine early spring morning he got a phone call at about 7:10 am. "Hello." "Are you coming to work today?" "Well, yeah, I thought about it ...why?" "Because you are about 10 minutes late!" "Look at your alarm clock time you dummy!" So he did. "Duhh, it reads 0710 hours ... so what". "No dummy, you forgot to set forward your clock." "It is 0810 hrs and YOU ARE LATE FOR SHIFT!" "Ah fecal material!!" the young dumb man said. "I did it again". And he did. It still took about 30 to 40 minutes for this dummy to get to Engine 5. The Captain was not happy. The end. All true. You needed a fourth vote category:
4. Change dates to match those in Europe. THAT would have been my vote. . =====

For those whose work hours are individually inflexible it is a great idea. Lets them get home to spend daylight hours mowing the lawn or spending time with their kids. Where we live it is the conservative north of Australia, analogous to the USA south and we don't have it. Luckily for me and mine we could to a certain extent set our own hours in our professions so weren't greatly inconvenienced by the lack.
Our conservative farmers hated it when it was trialed because - "I work from dawn to dusk and you now expect me to work an extra hour?" "The extra hour of sunlight fades the curtains/paint". "It'll upset the cows". |

My concern has always been a thing of safety, regarding school kids. Expecting kids to stand out at a bus stop in the dark, IS PHUCKING CRAZY!
Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

This was actually something that did occur to me. After my initial post. When the US went earlier and later dates there were several instances locally. Something to think about, T2M PS As it is another state thing to abide by DST this is something you can voice your concern the state's legislature. Which is somewhat more likely to change things. -----------------------

In the morning or the evening? Choose one. What is the problem, at least if you have street lights. |
