A Havenite plan to assasinate King Roger because they thought he'd be replaced with a pushover of a Queen.
That was a stupid check that many of their asses cashed! Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

How is this for stupidity?
Major Dover decides to kill Justin while in the presence of the treecat Monroe. Monroe rips out his throat with his claws. "Whatsa matter, 'cat got your tongue?" Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. It worked for the purpose they needed it to, which was to stop the alliance. |

There's a difference between bad information and stupidity.
As for the biggest stupidity in the Honorverse IMHO? The Mesan Alignment's entire plan. In six hundred years they could have done a lot more if they weren't doing it in total secrecy. After all, if genetically engineered humans really were superior to normals, wouldn't their society slowly have overpowered any normal nations after twenty generations? |

Acting on bad information is stupidity. Hitler just woke up in his grave. "Somebody's got my playbook." Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

But only to lead to another alliance down the road. (Grayson) And as a result of constantly getting their noses blooded. Asses kicked. Feelings hurt. Lovers killed. (sorry Rose) And ships and fleets massacred, they finally realized ... "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!" (forgive me kzt. couldn't resist that.) Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

OK, I'm making this one up (simply because I like it. It is my most favorite one-liner), so I think it will stand up to close scrutiny ...
It was very stupid of Tourville to think he could take the Salamander a second time.
If I'd been Tourville, phuck sweating bullets. I'd've been sweating missiles and ECM too! I so love that line! Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

In Dover's defense (tepid on my part, mind you, he killed a very interesting character) he, as did most of the Palace, thought Monroe was dying as treecats were known to do when their person died. He definitely didn't expect a dying 'animal' to understand that he (Dover) had murdered his person and rise from his deathbed to rip out his throat. Ignorance, in this case, was not bliss. ***********************************************

Actually, Dover didn't even know Monroe was there. Only a few people knew that Justin was trying to take care of Monroe. --------------------------------------------
