Personally, Lynch on a dive. He reminds me of "Refrigerator Perry", Jones-Drew or the "Mack Truck" in his running style.

He was good for a half-yard for damn sure!

Yep. Based (IIRC) by the total number of men under arms, and I am not sure if they counted navies in the mix, just Army (again, IIRC).

Remember, cthia, historically the United States did not have a large military force in times of peace, the 'Minuteman militia" meme was strong for most of our history (when threatened, Americans would rush from hearth and home to the colors and fight off any invader), and the large army gathered for WW I was quickly disassembled in 1919. Add to that the effects of the Great Depression and a strong Isolationist sentiment, and the US Army (and Army Air Force) were simply not a priority for a nation that had depended on two oceans to defend itself for most of it's history.

WW II changed that by promoting us to 'superpower' status and bringing us into direct confrontation with the other 'superpower' remaining after the war (USSR and it's satellite China--thinking 1950's here). That confrontation necessitated a larger military to 'contain' Communist actions around the world, the from there the Military-Industrial complex grew into the 800-lb gorilla it is today.

It's amazing to me sometimes how Manticore (and for that matter, Haven and Grayson) seem to have avoided that. Maybe they read Eisenhowers' words on the subject....

New Yorkers walking along 57th St.'s so-called 'Billionaires' Row' got a nasty shock over the weekend when a four by four-foot piece of Plexiglass fell from the 22nd floor of a glitzy new tower at 157 W. 57th St., crashing onto two parked cars.

The incident prompted the Department of Buildings to halt construction for the third time. Developer Extell Development can’t resume building until it shows it can carry out the job safely, according to the Journal report.

No one has been hurt in any of the three incidents but neighborhood residents are anxious.

"I am petrified to walk on my block with my son," said one local mother, who posted on an Upper East Side mommy blog.

A spokesperson for Extell did not immediately respond to a request for comment but previously told the Journal that the Plexiglass was installed as a temporary measure until specially-ordered custom glass could be delivered.

The 57th St. tower is one of the priciest new buildings in the city and has attracted investors from all over the world. A mystery buyer dropped $100.47 million on a penthouse there, earlier this year.

Residents of 57th St. have already had beef with Extell over construction on the tower.

A crane malfunction at the site during Hurricane Sandy in 2012 left a 35,500-pound weight dangling above the street. Neighbors had to be evacuated.
