Hi all,

I am all thumbs on using the tools this site provides. I really need to spend some time mastering them.

But here is a copy and past on the link. It was posted as a crude Map in the After Action Report on LAMA which was a thread here back in August. Hope this helps out.

Thank you n7axw, that map is a big help with keeping track of movements.

There's also a link to the official map that comes with its own viewer to select which part of the map you want to zoom in on and is lots quicker and easier to use at http://infodump.thefifthimperium.com/en ... hold/338/1

It's identical to the the image that fallsfromtrees linked to above, so it's still pre-LaMA I'm afraid. The jpg image he linked to failed to load in my Firefox browser, with a message that it wouldn't load because it contained errors. (I suspect that was because its size is 19 megabytes.) I was able to download the image using his link and view it using my usual software for viewing graphic files though.

However, the link I cited gives you the official map provided on this website, and since it doesn't load the entire detailed map at any given time, it's MUCH quicker to use than the 19 megabyte file and doesn't give me a loading error in Firefox. Your mileage may vary of course.

If anyone knows of an updated version of the map, which we've been begging for since MTaT, please post a link to it. ;)

Interesting that you had a problem with Firefox, as that is my default browser and I currently have it up in a tab. Version 34.0.5

Wow, I forgot about this one Randomiser. Of course it came out almost 10 months ago. Thanks for the reminder, #2 would fit well after this last one and the one engineer they almost lost could well be what was seen. We should know with the next snipet or two.

That was me. It is CRUDE (now that I'm retiring I may do a better job sometime). In any case it is here: http://www.nfgarland.ca/Safehold_MTnT2.jpg

Note: It does show the march down towards Sandfish, but maybe could be labeled better.

I have the Fith Imperium map downloaded (and view it with windows photo viewer because that way I can get it practically full screen rather than in a smallish letterbox) and my Kindle version of LAMA has several maps at the front, including one of South March, including the Kyplynger. But none of these have any 'dispositions of forces' marked on them. Don seemed to have found a map which somebody had marked up with the various Armies' movements and that's what I was/am interested in seeing.

Hi jgnfld,

Thanks for your work here. I earmarked it when you first posted it and have been using it since. Very helpful.

Just a comment...Going down the Sandfish road was Ahlverez's only way out. E.H. had the other route blocked. Combine your map with the one in the print edition shows that the first oportunity to diverge from the Sandfish road would be below the southern lobe of the Kyplyngyr Forest which is about half way to Thesmar which is as portayed by the red line on your portrayal.

Well said Don,

When Alvahrez is at the bottom of the Kyplyngyr and turns West he is closing on half way, Eastshare should be able to flank him by heading straight throough the Forest on the High Road . The Other ICA Forces that took Roymark and Malyktyn are also well placed to slow him down. Forces from Thesmar and Hanth should be able to catch him in the Open. Will he fight or will he save his men?

OR is he fast enough to slip through to Dohlar? I do not hold that he is starving or lacks supplies. Alvahrez was afraid he would have to support the Desnairians but didn't. He also had good logistical discipline and got away with his entire supply train.

Things might be tough but he is not starving or short of Arms and ammo.

While he may not be immediately starving or short of supply, anything he expends can't be replaced, save for fodder and (possibly) food. Problem is, he's cornered, and with limited options, none of which are good ones - so he will have to pursue the one that is least palatable with some urgency - or find an option we haven't thought of.

With perfect information (which he does not have), he might be able to force his way through a weak area in Hanth's forces stretching from Thesmar to wherever they extend (Evrytyn?). He'll have to evade or outrun pursuing or flanking forces as well.

If he had the boats, or access to them, he could attempt a Dunkirk from the peninsula east of Fort Sandfish, but he has neither. It's also possible he could try the marshes. The only reason I say this is because of the pages in LAMA that discussed artillery emplacements there.

Just remember, a cornered animal is the most dangerous kind of animal. We'll see.

Hi guys,

I think dwileye13's summary of the possibilities are about right. There is nothing for Ahlverez at Ft Sandfish. The qualifier is whether or not he knows that Hanth has broken out of Thesmar.

The supply situation may not be as good as you think. Note the following from LAMA:
"They were more than a little starved, those Dohlarans, gaunt, with leaky boots and worn uniforms that came perilously close to tatters, but their weapons were well kept and clean, and they knew what to with them."

Dunno...make of it what you will. :?
