Generl cargo ships are important but, with a steam powered navy using coal for fuel Colliers will be a necessity, and if Oil becomes the fuel of the fleet (Hopefully) tankers and fast fleet oilers will be required. Having the King Harolds at dock going up and down with the tide out of coal is not a good thing. You got to keep the bunkers fat and happy

Not sure about that. Delthak did pretty well in a storm that sunk several [many?] galleons in the same convoy, and was able to take on tow a dismasted troop transport and bring it safe to Thesmar. |

Yeah, but I'm I remember it right it was heavier than usual, cus it had a lot of additional coal and there is another reason to build proper gunboat. It should be faster than Delthak. |

I believe Draken was trying to say that the Delthak is incapable of fighting in the open sea - which is absolutely true, unless by some miracle there are practically no waves. Its ability to survive conditions that swamped galleons has been proven - but those galleons could have fired their guns in waves nearly that high. The Delthak couldn't. "Oh bother", said Pooh as he glanced through the airlock window at the helmet he'd forgotten to wear. |

Delthak can't fire its cannon in open seas. But it might be able to ram its opponent. There is more than one way to skin a cat!! Don When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

shame on you sir - to even think of harming a poor defenceless little catty!! Besides shouldn't it be 'cat-lizard'? I suppose that Delthak could set fire to the galleons with sparks from it's chimney ... |

Ramming requires an extremely robust construction, otherwise you risk damage to yourself.
I was wondering, does anyone have the specs for the King Harold VII-class? |

It's in the thread mentioned some pages back. There are two possible designs (RFC uses Springsharp as well), one 2x1 10" and one 2x2. The 2x1 design starts the tread and you will find the 2x2 a bit downpage here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4116&hilit=king+haarald&start=30 IIRC he has later returned to the 2x2 design though I don't recall how he dealt with the displacement. |
