I seem to recall that someplace there was the senior female flag officer whose staff always included an entirely competent but extremely attractive flag officer. Of course, there was no suggestion of improper behavior. Who as that?

Are you thinking of Alice Truman, who always had a blonde second-in-command (male or female) to match her own gorgeous (I presume) hair? Or is it someone else (I'm curious myself)?

Alice Truman is famous for having a lot of attractive blonde males among her senior staff. Henke has attractive males of whatever pigmentation often enough to get twitted on it by Honor.

Okaaaaaaay...

After reading through ALL of this, I present my pairings (or rather, my "wow how amusing it would be if Honor and Nimitz found out about this..." list)

Sonja and Shannon: I can't help but see them trying to multi-task on a classified R/D project while (XXXX CENSORED XXXX.)Besides, LESBIAN NERD LOVE SHOULD BE A THING!!!!!!

Eloise and Tom Theisman: I defer to Rose for this one. I do not need to try and explain.

Or even better: Shannon, Sonja, Tom and Eloise all assimilated into a giant collective mass of brilliance and (CENSORED)

Rose and Allen Higgins is pretty much canon on this forum. (I'm sorry. Resistance seems to be futile.)

Augustus and Estelle also seems "given" therefore I defer to Rose...

WHAT HAVE I DONE!!

All we need is just one Manticoran/Havenite wedding, then a domino effect of likewise pairings will ensue from the all important catching of the garter!

Talk about a token couple giving those to follow a leg up.

Does anyone think Miss Owens' father, Steadholder Owens, would go against the grain of Abby getting hitched to a Manticoran?

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Probably depends on how far down the succession list she is. If there is any significant chance she will inherit the steading, then I suspect he would have a problem with it, otherwise its more a case of will he make his little girl happy.

Good point. Where is she in line to the Steadholder succession?

If memory serves, the change to succession that allows women to inherit the title at all is recent, and had a grandfather clause so that existing heirs were not dispossessed. Assuming Miss Owens has any younger (or older) brothers, she's not presumed to inherit at all, and will be expected (ha, he can cross his fingers...) to be one of some Grayson man's two or three wives.

There were, and we in fact have textev that she has at least one brother, as that was given as the reason she only had one body guard (Mateo) instead of the three or more her brother as the heir had. What we didn't get given, IIRC is how many brothers and older sisters she had who precede her in the precedence.
