Y'all don't think Shannon and Scotty would make a cute couple? Both similar ranked at similar times, and you've got super-star tech wizard with arguably the most important 2nd tier naval fighting officer "with the fleets" across the disparate book series.
Without Tremaine, Harrington doesn't survive or as an officer a) Basilisk, b) Honor of the Queen, c) Honor among Enemies. Separate from HH, he's also part of the "win" at 2nd Hancock in Echoes of Honor in Minotaur's LAC win, a fleet win in Buttercup in Ashes of Victory, and is involved with the win in Spindle, etc. Without Foraker, Caslet, Prichart & Govt, and the RHN don't survive. Theisman might have anyway, but... these two saved the star-nations by saving others, if you know what I mean. They'd make a great couple. You know, Michelle could be availing herself of the joys of Beowulf, or very discreet escort services, as did White Haven. It may be difficult to have a naval career and date, simultaneously dispatching obligations to the crown.

I can just picture the (very discrete) Gold Peak yacht in the high hyper bands running from Beowulf to 10th Fleet and back for a steady circuit of fresh meat for "Countess Insatiable". |

Now that you put it that way ... Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

I tend to agree, Sharkhunter, especailly since they had time to become acquainted during Shannon's captivity on Wayfarer during HAE. However, at the present time, Shannon is at Bolthole and Scotty is off performing feats of derring-do in Talbott Sector (last spotted in Montana, IIRC). However, at the risk of great bodily injury from the Foraker-Hemphill shippists amongst us (*casts a wary eye at roseandheather*), it could be that Shannon may not be at Bolthole for long. Remember, Shannon, although she be a genius at coming up with systems and upgrades and tactics to offset the Manty advantages, started out as and remains in her soul a "Tac Witch". IIRC, in either WoH or AAC, she was bitterly disappointed that 'her' SD(P)'s were sailing away without her. Unlike Sonya, Shannon started out and never really wanted off the bridge of a warship--she did what she did at Bolthole becuase no one could do it better. Now with a trained staff and Soyna Hemphill to ride herd on the team, I could see Admiral Foraker finally "getting to go play" with 'her' SD(P)'s. And if having Honor and Mike out in the Galaxy hunting them down troubles the MAlignment, well, heeerrrreeeessss Shannon! *slinks away via back door to avoid rioting shippists...* IMHO as always. YMMV. ***********************************************

--snips self--
Yeah, weird to snip my own self, I know, but I gotta up the ante on this matchup by ONE. Scotty is adopted by Sorrow Singer. ---------------------

Where do they meet - Sorrow Singer is on Sphinx coordinating the treecat assignments, Scotty is on Montana, as last reported, or he might be running around the Madras sector, or he is with Mike on Mesa. Any of these would constitute a very long range adoption. ========================

Between takes. Oh wait, haven't made the movie yet. Dang. Ok, how about they meet up at the First Annual Most Deserving of a Reward from the Universe Awards? of course. ---------------------

Well, Sonja could play wing woman, and send for Scotty, to look at a new LAC design (supposedly ). He still has his clearance, right? Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Forgive me a bit of liberties. Hamish and Emily have opened the door to a compound marriage.
I maintain a possibility of, howshallIsay, experimentation between Honor and Michelle. MeOwnFantasy, and for some reason Michelle ain't knocking boots. So, a little Honor and Michelle salt-n-peppa action leading to another member of the compound marriage. Now there's fuel for the Crown. Elizabeth can have a field day with that. Readers too.
