The thing with sneaky is that you can't predict how it will go...

Based on how often I see the quote "on the gripping hand" I have to wonder how many in this forum have read "The Mote in God's Eye."

Nope, the Dallas ploy would be if the book following HFQ revealed that the events in HFQ were all a dream.

On the other hand, authors have often used a "bad dream" scene to show that a character was extremely stressed out and of course Thirsk could reasonable be stressed out by events later in HFQ. :) :)

It could be a way to escape. If he was shoot dangerously, but not deadly and he met Merlin before he could escape easily. After he is shoot, he would be taken into his family estate and from there Merlin would grab him. It should be easy and we have reasons for something like that in LAMA he was thinking about escaping from Dohlar, but he was worried about his family. Merlin could solve his problem with family, arrange another fake attack and transport mission, similar to one which picked up Irys and Daivyn.

Ack! Can you imagine how upset we'd be to wait for an entire year for the next book to be published, only to find out the entire thing was a dream?

Drak, I miss the days of your snerk collar, since we could occasionally get a hint of what was actually going to happen from you, however inadvertent your revelations. RFC is utterly unscrupulous in his comments and out of context "snippets!" ;)

You need a yes/no poll section.
I've read it.
