When David creatively edits, it's by paragraphs and sections, not sentences. He also makes it clear that it is creatively edited.

I remind all and sundry that our dear author, as a writer, makes a snake's progress look straight and a drunkard's walk look sober! RFC can make his snippets tantalizingly misleading when taken out of context so I take Thirsk and the bullet with a small, Gibraltar-sized, grain of salt . I'm not saying that he is taunting us but I swear that I will positively HAUNT him should I not survive to November next year to delve the context! I also remind everyone that the derivation of 'tantalize' is from the Greek Myth of Tantalus, the son of Zeus who having offended the Gods, is condemned to eternity in the hell of Tartarus unable to eat or drink of the fruit and water just out of reach. Thus Tantalus tartly taunted and tantalized in Tartarus. -----

This may seem like verbigeration, but: How does one edit a creatively created creation without inadvertent creative consideration and manipulation? |

May I suggest: Thus Tartarus tartly taunted the tantalized Tantalus. ? Tantalus being the one taunted by the bending fruit branches and receding water. |

Pfft. He's removed context specifically to tease us. It doesn't even rule out that it's a nightmare of Thirsk's - troubled by his own disaffection with the cause, knowing that anyone close to him who does not share that may be the knife in his back - or his family's - if he lets it show.
Anyway, back to this snippet - I have perfect confidence in Aivah's ability to accept well-evidenced truth, however shocking or unfamiliar. And I have perfect confidence in her ability to assess Sandaria's ability to accept it, and that she would not have put Sandaria in a situation in which a potential security leak would have to be plugged by killing her closest friend. It's big. It's sudden. It's not coming with the comfort of revelation from a trusted friend or with a gradual acclimation wonder-by-wonder over time. Ultimately, Aivah and Sandaria oppose the Church because it is monstrous. That it's a lie too is almost incidental. They're not finding out anything here that makes it any less monstrous, and they are finding out - with their own eyes - just how much of a lie it is and the basics of how it could be manufactured. It's possible Sandaria may need a spiritual retreat to process this, and it's possible that the Cave is going to have to be the site for it. But we've got our own estimates of Aivah's judgment and integrity backing up the expectation that Sandaria will make it through. That should be good enough. |

I think RFC might be conducting experiments to determine whether his readers' heads can explode. |

You are correct sir but my preference would be to correct mine own error of the missing verb, so thusly wilt I 'wewrite' with the missing 'was'' Thus Tantalus was tartly taunted and tantalized in Tartarus. -----

LOL Thank You RFC - That certainly rattled a few cages and woke us all up! Just, please, don't blame me for it folks, you all know what 'his' sense of humour is like. I imagine he is sitting back rubbing his hands with glee about now. |

See what we all did when we discussed tantalizing and tormenting in the same post! RFC did consult his evil genius dictionary! --- Jack of all trades and destructive tinkerer. Anyone who have simple solutions for complex problems is a fool. |
