Perhaps Merlin should try selling that there were true religions on Earth, very similar to those in parts of the Writ, because the Langhorne like all men of his ilk could not create anything new.

Supplying her with whatever religious texts the writ was most plagiarized from might be of some assistance.

I imagine Sandaria will have a long time in the cave to consider that which is true.

Yes, the whole shebang at once, including the indubitably dead Nahrman in the not quite flesh, is an awful lot for them to take. Especially for someone like Sandaria who hasn't had extended contact with any of the inner circle to build up personal trust, at least not that we have read about. What she really needs is a visit from Archbishop Maikel, a com call will be a very poor substitute. A full translation of Kohdy's diary might help a bit depending on what is in it. Actually, that might have been an easier place to start.

Like the 'at least the Rubicon doesn't have to be the Styx' line. Very elegant wry classical allusion. It may just be a blip, of course, but you may be right and Sandaria might have to stay longer than expected.
Since Nynian has eidetic (sp?) memory, she can now dictate the Spanish section of St. Khody's journal to Owl and receive an almost instantaneous translation, as well, her memory will allow her to learn Spanish and translate it herself! (slang exceptions, as previously discussed, aside)

Ditto with the Thank You.

I was sort of looking forward to the two of them being on a slab, locked down like Nimu originally was, and viewing the Hologram.
Eh.... This is still good!

Actually, although we have not actually been more than snippets of the Holy Writ (through individual verse citations), it would seem that there is almost going to be a dichotomy in Holy Writ - the pieces the Langhorne cribbed from existing scriptures (Bible, Koran, Hindu writing, Shinto, etc) and the pieces designed to assist mankind in terraforming Safehold, and restricting the rise of technology. I expect that this dichotomy would have been noticed by the SSK over the years, although with the attitude of the CoGA, NOT publicly spoken about. Showing Sandaria the older scriptures will help explain to her where this dichotomy came from, and probably ease her crisis of faith.

Love the snippet! That said, no getting to see their reactions when Nahrman is "raised from the dead"? No getting to go through the details of the tour of the cave? Or, presenting them with a (very very compressed) synopsis of the full history of the human race. That would have been fun to witness.

Argh... I was really looking forward to a little more than wow this is a really big cave, and there's some stuff in it that's amazing but we won't go into a whole lot of detail and just skip past it all with a reference to a brief guided tour and pick things up with Nhrman already sharing a virtual drink with the group.

That's just mean... getting to experience all the coolness through the eyes of Safeholdians seeing it for the first time is one of the most potentially fun parts of the entire premise of stories like this.

Hello Runs For Celery!

Thank you so much for another wonderful snippet!

This came days earlier than I was expecting since every two weeks as some thought seemed easier for your schedule.

I hope all is well for you, Sharon and your whole family this Christmas season.

Merry Christmas!

Any snippet or post from RFC is good if not great!

And what part of tantalizing snippets did you not understand?

Just so long as they are not tart snippets! :-)

on a related note-I'm really really hoping that the final end of the series doesn't come down to a one page or even one chapter overview of 'how the gbaba came to a sticky but well deserved end'!! :(

Amazing how little bits of writing cause cravings and withdraw like a drug.
Now I'm looking forward to what the Spanish section of Saint Kody's journal contains.
