There is a lot of thoughts about Mount Royal Palace defense system. What we knew so far about it, there was exactly one sentence about its capabilities, when they intercepted some of falling debris.

It's been mentioned before. There was comment in one of the stories or mid-series books about how some of the "old towers" were actually heavy weapon mounts.

Thinking about "tanks" in the HonorVerse, and coming up with plenty of reasons why they'd still exist, though not in huge numbers, similar to why the US is now building many more predator drones with missiles than we are the M-1 Abrams.

We'll assume that an Honorverse tank is magnitudes tougher and deadlier than the M-1, given that the infantry and marines definitely are. Against air superiority forces, any artillery is eventually going to be a smoking piece of wreckage, and in many "line of sight" engagements, same thing. So that's not how they'd be used, then or now.

But tanks are essentially "armored howitzers guarding crafty humans" who can use their portable mayhem distributor for many different missions, and your wonderful tank clobbering missile or plasma rifle isn't much help when my Honorverse tank lobs a plasma shell or anti-personnel bomblet over yon hill which was blocking your line of sight. Bounce your marines in battle armor into jelly if I can...

Or your unsuspecting pinnace gets pop-shotted on it's final approach from my craftily hidden location, or I drop that building on top of your unit, then turn and start launching salvos to whack a few APC's trying to get into range to whack my uppity armored arse. Nifty stuff for urban warfare where you don't want to just nuke the populace with a kinetic strike, no?

I might even have some limited plasma attack ability against sub-orbital vehicles, though likely they'd whack me first if I try it more than once.

All my posts are YMMV, IMHO, and welcoming polite discussion, extension, and rebuttal. This is the HonorVerse, after all

Sounds readonable.
