Certainly one possibility, but it would be more fun my way.

I still think their most likely destination is Parmley Station. Granted, RFC could have them dropped off somewhere else, but given that he's sort of said he's wrapping it up in two more books, I don't see a subthread of them wandering all over the place. I also suspect that their traveling orders are (supposed to be) waiting on their next destination; I don't see the GAUL having them. |

I'd go one farther and say that the orders are waiting at their next destination, but they'd be encrypted or encoded, and only the GAUL had the key or code to decipher them. (Or possibly the orders were with the GAUL but encrypted and needed key/data the GAUL and the station had to decrypt the next one) Either way that kind of separation protects (to some degree) against a GAUL deliberately, or accidentally, leaking the itinerary and final destination, but also protects against the way stations snooping and reading the travel orders. (Actually the 2nd might be better because then you aren't sending encrypted data all over space where the traffic itself might be noticed and subject to traffic analysis - the station decryption piece can be some key they already have since it's primary purpose is to keep the GAUL from looking ahead at the entire itinerary) |

*Apologies for derail* Given the greater use of Canadian oil shale and the subsequent lowering of oil prices, Putin is finding himself in economic troubles (50% or so of the Russian Government budget is based on oil sales), so maybe he doesn't want to anger Canada.... *Again, apologies for derail.* ***********************************************

I consider the second to be a good possibility. You don't want the station to know what is going on, so it would be a key that the station normally uses. Given the fanatical efforts the MAlign has gone to to prevent any knowledge of Houdini getting out, it doesn't want a bunch of stations with the knowledge that something special is happening. ========================

Given that the RTN ships came from Parmley Station when they attacked the way-station and the 2 passenger ships, and the course plotted by both ships was away from the direction the RTN was coming from, I doubt if the next destination was Parmley Station. .

I can't see the GAUL not having them. They were trusting these guys to shepherd their charges, up to and including killing them and themselves in such a fashion as to preclude anyone actually discovering they had existed. Given that you have such (dedicated? fanatical?) individuals doing the escorting, why wouldn't you give them the itinerary? That way only they have to know what is going on. ========================

I can't see Parmley Station being the 'trap' for MAlignment, albeit Weber/Flint have set up the possiblity in CoG. It was always a small-time operation and one reason the BSC is establishing a base there is because it is off the beaten path (catching the occassional slaver is a bonus, IMHO).
So I can't see the MAlignment, fanantical as they are about security for Houdini, routing Alphas via and small and inconsequential base that is not under their control (they not knowing it has changed ownership to the BSC). IMHO as always. YMMV, ***********************************************
