Why snippets and not snips?

Why do we have to settle for snippets? I for one would like a snip every once in a while.
Of course that brings up the age old question of, what is the difference between a snippet and a snip? Socrates, Descartes, Confucius and even Plato once pondered this monumental question but none could come up with the answer.

You do not need to be making suggestions like that. If he actually does that, you had better head for the high country, 'cause there's gonna be a lynch mob after you.

There are drawbacks and advantages to either. How many snippets does a snip make? In other words, a snip is a collection of snippets.

However, with snips, you only get one every blue moon. Snippets you get every full moon. So, measure your pleasure before killing the leisure.
