Has anyone else noticed that everything Sharleyan does, she does tartly?

Sharleyan is NOT a tart. She is a LADY of the highest order. Oh, and welcome to the forums. Have a virtual drink of your choice at the virtual bar - on me. ========================

Yes, but go ahead and reread How Firm a Foundation or A Mighty Fortress again keeping Sharleyan's apparently tartlyness in mind. I should have kept a running count... I'd guess he uses "tartly" for Sharleyan at least 10 times in HFF... and no other character. Once you see it, you can't unsee it! |

Maybe that tartness is the reason for the preserves she was talking about with Caleb that one night...

No,no,no,... Those are sweet. The way she handles her husband, on the other hand.... But, then I've always had had a ,erm, 'Yen' for sweet and sour... Don't hit me.... ====================================

Been 2 serious assassination attempts on her since the series started. The 1st resulted in almost her entire royal guard being wiped out. In the 2nd she got broken ribs when her ballistic vest stopped the pistol ball. She also has to worry about the possibility of attempts on the life of her husband and daughter. Oh, and if her empire loses then the CoG is going to painfully murder her entire family and pretty much everybody she is friends with. Just saying, it might be a little hard to always have a sunny, cheerful disposition under the circumstances. |

Hi Samwiches,
It isn't every time but it is often. Such a list would certainly help your argument a great deal, if you can provide references, to get some kind of ratio for all her thoughts or talks. I've noticed it in the books as I read them, but it's not all the time. If tartly appears a third or half the time, it might give us a clue for the next time. L
