of Shannon Foraker inventing things.I would also like to see what happens when Sonja Hemphill arrives at bolthole and she meets Shannon Foraker.
One more thing I would like to see - both Shannon & Sonja are Very Important People, so I think that they would both be assigned treecat bodyguards I would like to see what happens when they meet the treecats assigned to them. I would particularly like to see Shannon's reaction.

Lester and a Grayson girl? Omg, can you see him wooing one of the shyer, more traditional ones? I DIE.

Tom's going to have to get over his fears of losing people first.

(You can marry me and my husband, Tom! RFC can't kill us off!)

Sam Weston and said Greyson girl would be funny too, or the mastermind girl from Shadow of Freedom. I bet he would be rolling over and begging in short order.

Van Dort could also really use a date, or his daughters coming back from being supposedly dead.

As always I'm totally rooting for Scotty and Shannon

But probably the most hilarious, at least in terms of sheer irony, would have to be Prichard and Oversteegan.

That would be a coyote ugly.

At any rate, I expect it to go epicly bad anyway, with Sonja and Shannon.

Epicly bad for a certain sect of cowards!

By the way. In case you didn't know, my brother used to jokingly say that ACME stands for ... A Coyote Must Endure.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Something like this came up over in the "Favorite Phrases" thread between Hanuman and roseand heathers

Well, it turns out I was wrong about the treaty’s prospects,” Pritchart went on now. “According to Leslie’s dispatch, she never got a chance to pound it anywhere. The Senate jumped all over it. It was approved with a fifty-six-vote margin over and above the two thirds majority requirement. There were only eleven dissenting votes!”

The president’s face blossomed in a huge smile, and Elizabeth felt herself smiling back.

Hanuman quote--
Wait, can someone who can actually do some math PLEASE do the calculation? How many members does that give the Havenite Senate?

by roseandheather » Wed Jul 09, 2014 1:40 pm

2/3x + 56 = x - 11

2/3x + 67 = x

1/3x = 67

x = 201

201, if my math is correct.

And the math works, so we know the Havenite Senate has 201 members.

So..does that mean it has 201 systems, or 100 systems with two senators each (and one presiding officer), or some other division of numbers (or maybe a few senators chose not to vote, or were sick, or were back on their home planets).

So IMHO, it's between 100-201 systems.

Or not. 8-)

This actually assumes that there were no abstentions, and that every senator voted, which may or may not be valid.

I suspect that Tullingham will decline to have one of those "damn furry mind suckers" around him. He doesn't need a companion who will sign "he's lying" when he tries to sneak something past someone.

201 is correct, because if 50% will vote against something and 50% will support that, that 1 is person which will decide if it will pass, or go to trash.

Specifically, how it affects female reproductive biology. Being a woman myself I wondered how prolong deals with the subjects of menstruation, fertility, menopause, etc...

It mainly came into focus with Honor's unexpected pregnancy and how she couldn't have known that her implant expired. I understand about not thinking to check medical records and paperwork but if the implant altered certain aspects of female reproductive biology than the reversion back to a "normal" state after it expired would probably have been recognizable (after all, a period is not exactly something you don't notice having). Considering that women don't continually produce eggs the way men produce sperm it would be interesting to figure out how prolong extends (or doesn't as the case may be) a woman's fertile years into the 100s (as evidenced by Allison's successful pregnancy).

I hope I haven't squicked too many people out. :D

There was a long chain on this, but I didn't see answered the actual question. Given that I am male, my understanding of this issue my be incomplete. A woman's period is her body flushing out the material that would have become the placenta if the egg released was actually fertilized. If there is no placenta, the egg might get fertilized, but will then die, because there is no placenta to implant in, ergo Honor doesn't get pregnant. If the nanites are consuming the placenta as it is forming, same situation. I suppose the one situation was mentioned, Honor got pregnant the first time she ovulated after the implant ran out, and the nanites ran down at the same time, but seems a little forced except as a plot device.

Hi RoseandHeather, Bunnybelle;

It's a whole star system that has been organised to build warships, especially SD's then SDP's with 200-400 building slips.

It was a tiny [only a few million people] lightly industrialized colony the peeps could disappear and no notice, which they did, and no one has yet. ;)

Amaroq wrote:True, we don't hear about anyone else who can't. There have been two major-ish characters that we know can and were injured badly enough during the course of the series to make use of it: Sarnow and Terekhov.

Also, Admiral Caparelli, before he was an admiral. Honor's father was his physician at that time and was able to reduce the amount of regeneration he had to undergo.

Susan Hibson lost a leg in IEH, and has had it regenerated sufficiently to be walking at Honor's funeral.
