The current state of BMI/BCI technology has interesting potential applications, and with the miniaturization available in the Honorverse I can't help but wonder if the technology would not only be more feasible but also more heavily in use. I was thinking about Emily Alexander and how today some quadra/para-plegic individuals are capable of using the BMI/BCI to control robotic hands, move cursors, play video games, etc and got to wondering why a similar technology couldn't have perhaps restored some of Emily's functionality (think a support suit plugged into a BMI/BCI for control). I know Emily has some significant neurological damage which may preclude such a system but the usefulness of the technology elsewhere is, to me anyways, fairly apparent.
Are there any pearls, or previous threads about this subject with any ideas or answers from RFC? |

Not sure if this has been discussed before or if there are any 'Pearls" or not. Perhaps the author decided it was best to leave the "Borg" out of his future history? Lots of stuff could have been introduced into the series, but for whatever reasons, (all probably good) were not. Just me. HB of CJ (old coot) Cm. I love this Forum!:)

David has mentioned in some infodumps that there are some systems where cyborgs are the norm, where extreme modification is popular and subject to fashion trends. Manticore is not such a system, but lesser cybernetic organs are definitely used--just look at Honor's hand and eye! And you are correct, David has specifically stated that Emily's neurological damage precludes the use of cybernetics. --------------------------------------------
