Baen Books has released an E-Book:
see http://www.baenebooks.com/p-2613-the-many-deaths-of-joe-buckley.aspx Yes now Joe Buckley the ultimate Red Shirt has a book dedicated to him. And yes Virginia David has killed him several times in the Honorverse, although Jonny Ringo was first and is the most prolific according to Buckley in a post on this forum. Hmm, I'm schocked, schocked I say, David Weber was the first to off Buckley:
Wipes egg from face, "Hmm how should I kill Buckley? Hmm staked in hot sun with raw hide about the gonads, perhaps." Evil laugh. Poker CPO Poker Mind and, Mangy Fur the Smart Alick Spacecat.

Eric Flint and Ryk Spoor in the books Boundary, Threshhold, and Portal have almost killed Joe Buckley at least 4 times - An exploding experiment on Earth, a crash landing on Mars, a coil gun shot at a nuclear reactor he was working on, and being dropped through the ice inthe world ocean on Europa. He figures he is due for some truly spectacular death at some time in the
future. ========================

Castaway Planet is set a few centuries later, so I think that Joe Buckley is 'safe'. |

You do know that Eric Flint and Ryk Spoor wrote "Portal", with Joe Buckley in it - he survives the book. Almost dies.
