That would be unlikely. Jack doesn't seem the type to compleatly disregard any basic security complication like leaving a parting letter to his mother explaining to his mother why he has vanished. It would also- when found- guarantee that the rest of the family gets killed or just disappeared and killed.

You get Zack's thinking on how the Alignment security works. They investigated and once they determined Jack acted alone (without giving any information or involving his family) the family was left alone. They are ruthless when they find problems but otherwise just let people continue. Of course, Zack was very carefull not to question things or do any investigating of Jack's activty after the fact.

To be precise, there is no specific textev either way that lets us know whether or not Jack's mother and sister were either caught in the Houdini strikes or evacuated to Darius.

Has Joe Buckley been mentioned yet? It'd be his third death (IIRC) in this series.

The Salamander has made many enemies all throughout the Honorverse, and on (how many planets?) ...

1. Manticore
2. Haven
3. Terra
4. Mesa
5. Masada
6. Grayson

If I missed any, forgive me. Honor's been a good girl, but the Salamander - she's been very very naughty.

The human brain can fuel anger endlessly. If some entities wanted to really hurt Honor - and they do - then the next to die will be both of Hamish's babies. :o

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Actually there is: Chapter 55 of CoG

Seems like pretty fair textev to me.

And that phrasing makes it pretty clear that they were not killed solely by happenstance, not because they had any special knowledge from Zach.

Certainly true. I wasn't thinking of Zach per se, but rather his brother. Did Jack leave something behind without telling mother or sister, since if he had, they almost certainly would have turned it over to the GAULs when they were investigating Jack's treason. I was actually surprised the he hadn't left a cache of information with Herlander, to be delivered to the Manties only if Jack didn't make the ship, just to try to protect against Murphy. Given he didn't, did he leave something behind that will be found by Anton (when he returns to Mesa) or Victor, in the aftermath of Henke's arrival.

She has made enemies in the Silesian Confederation,
New Potsdam, and some of them even survived the experience.....

In a last minute act of defiance one of the MA minions unleashes a multi-megaton KEW strike on the Neue Rostok tower and kills everyone including our band of stalwart warriors.

Not bloody likely with Gold Peak currently in orbit. Even if the Board directed it, the commander in orbit would decline to commit suicide.
