It may well depend on what is done ashore by the navy and what is handled by civilian contractors - who might well recruit a fair number of veterans.

Hundred to thousands of men at least. Jobs like Storekeeper Yeoman, Barracks Managers, Nurses, etc

In the last couple of books there have been mentions of the ICN possibly having to resort to impressment of sailors due to running up against the limits of their volunteer sources. I believe that was before the mention of the high levels of motivation and enlistment coming out of Zebediah, and the uptick in recruiting in Chisolm and Tarot. With the full intergration of Chisolm into the empire, my guess is that also reduces the stresses placed on manpower, giving them a short reprieve.

I like the WINS program, and could see it going forward with someone like Howsmynn to push it. I actually expect he would be the one to bring it to the inner circle as an idea. Of course, all of those gentlemen with their cushy quartermaster jobs will probably howl and whine, but it would make for some interesting scenes. Probably nothing as spectacular as what Nimue did to Captain-my-shoulder-my-shoulder.

Perhaps someone like but not Howsmynn himself. He's doing so many things and seems to have about 12 full time jobs. How much can one person do???

How about Princess Irys Alpin-Armac as CO of the WINS with maybe Princess Zahnet Armac heading it up in old Charis.

Saber964,

What a display of utter disrespect! Irys as CO of those WINS!?! Utter nonsense! Queen Mother Ahlanah is the obvious choice as CO. Irys and Zhanyt are fine Sisters Colonels of the WINS. There is only one choice for the Mother General.

I wonder what the definition of officer and lady would be in this WINS organization?

No, Empress Mother Ahlana is to busy holding the fort as regent in Chisolm.

I suspect that PeterZ is envisioning the post of Mother General being an honorary one. So it wouldn't distract Alahnah from her duties as Queen Mother and regent.

Hi guys

I don't think any post taken by any member of the royal family will be simply an honorary one.

The Safehold royals in the Charisian Empire are not the types to do "honorary" well -- They are "getting involved" types IMO !!

not an honorary position but close. I see the Mother General more as a Chairwoman of the Board. Her subordinate officers do most of the execution of policy. The Mother General sets policy and monitors progress. Sort of like her role as Regent in Chisholm. The role wouldn't be full time but neither would it be purely symbolic.
