So far though I don't think we've seen the inner workings of a tactical department.

During Abigail's Middy cruise, her GQ station was at one of the missile director stations (with a SCPO to keep her out of trouble)

Just one of the many cubby-holes JO's can be stashed into so they (1) stay out of the way , and (2) HOPEFULLY learn something by observation.

Thank you for the responses everyone, and I appologize for not actually saying anything for a week or so, RL has been busy.

The main reason I was asking was I was looking for a place to pigeon-hole a character of mine that in 1907 P.D. was/is an ensign, which is why I mentioned the Chanson-class.

I *wanted* him to be in Yeltsin-star at about the time of HotQ and originally thought he might be one of the 100 survivors from Troubadour but I think that might not be a good idea though I'm trying to work out how he eventually emigrates to Grayson (long story).

At about that time, there was Fearless there too, of course, and plenty of junior officers not mentioned who survived as well.

At the end of the affair, White Haven brought a scratch fleet, which went on to Endicott. Seeing Masada could serve as a good advert for Grayson - having that as a mortal enemy is some recommendation for anyone.

At the beginning of the affair, Apollo was in system, and came out with plenty of survivors - apart from being combat-incapable, I seem to recall it was in fair shape, certainly enough for Truman's wild race for help.

Admiral Courvosier's mission to Grayson may have included junior officers on the military side, including perhaps military aides directly to the Admiral himself who may not have been aboard Madrigal for First Yeltsin.

After Second Yeltsin, there would be plenty of RMN officers running through Yeltsin to help modernize the GSN.

Thank you for the suggestions they've helped a lot in my brainstorming though I am still not positive of how I want to go with it.

I honestly didn't want to put him *too* close to Honor and even though a crew of what? a thousand? (I don't have easy access to my copy of HoS at the moment) that still felt too close to her without being a Mary Stu if you will, especially since the character himself is already a Sphinx Yeoman, (though his family has a history of service with the RMN not many flag officers). The crew of Apollo, Troubadour and Fearless where the only two I could think of that might have had a chance to spend any time on the surface of Grayson itself and actually *meet* the Graysons.

I can't remember if there was ever any mention of what happened while White Haven took the Reliant's squadron to Endicott or not if they'd left behind any CLs or DDs, or even if there would have been a chance for a young Ensign fresh from his snotty cruise to even accompany Marines on planet to see the conditions there compared to what he sees on Grayson.

The BC squadron didn't have the force to occupy the planet. It appears they swept the system for other masadan ships, conducted SAR, and set up high level relations with Grayson.

Then some size element want to Masada and made everyone an offer they couldn't refuse. I doubt they left Grayson completely undefended while they did this.

I would assume they would have just established complete control of the system and possibly sent down a team to discuss details with the government. If so, I would suspect it's going to be a battalion+ of marines in battle armor to open the way for a face to face discussion with White Haven. So unless you were on his staff, no, I don't think so.

Or not, they might have waited for a couple of divisions of the RMA and an appointed governor to show up from Manticore to send anyone down. I tried to ask David about the whole evolution of Masada after the RMN showed up, but couldn't manage to do it.
