Just because the date is a placeholder doesn't mean it is good news. Instead of advancing the release, they could decide to push it back further. :(

I can unfortunately report that as of today I've been officially informed that the release date for HFQ is November 2015. That's right; one year from next month.

I'm not sure why we're quite that late, since I handed the book in several months ago. but I did miss my original delivery date (for reasons TOR understood completely) and I strongly suspect it's because TOR has to commit to release dates sooner than Baen does and is more tightly locked into them when they do.

The good news is that it gives me a bigger window to work on other projects --- like the new fantasy novel and the next solo Honorverse novel --- before I need to go back to work on Safehold. The bad news is that it's another 12 months till the book comes out. I'll probably go on snippeting a bit longer than usual --- mayhbe to the halfway point --- in the meantime.

Notice the next solo Honorverse novel is closer to the front burner, finnaly!

Whoop whoop!!

(This also gives me a bit more breathing room to finish the Safehold series, which is nice given how many other series I currently have on the go...)

I really like the Safehold series and I hate that the release of the next book has been pushed back so far (RFC turned it in several months ago, yet it won't see print till next November). But I also like the Honorverse, so if the delay leads to the next mainline Honor book being written, I will not complain. Well, other than to lament that Tor does not do E-ARCS with the Safehold series like Baen does with all of RFC's other books. :(

Well according to the october 10th baen podcast with rfc and eric flint, the next book in the Manticore ascendent series is in the homestretch, so we might see that book the middle or summer of next year.

The delay makes me a bit sad but its not a song of ice and fire level delay and its not like there won't be other books out by david before then to keep us occupied.

Works for me: I don't read the Safehold series. ;)

After a long series of long posts RFC ended the last with this:

And on that note, Dilandu, I'm going to have to bow out of this particular thread. I've enjoyed it immensely, but it truly is cutting into my writing time. Of course, one reason I've been able to devote as much time as I have to it over the weekend is that the hard drive on my desktop computer crashed at about 4 a.m. on Thursday morning. I'm supposed to have it back sometime tomorrow, at which point I really need to get back to work on the current book. So, as much fun as this is been, I'm afraid I won't be able to play in the sandbox for the next little bit.

now I'm torn in two - desperately upset by the extended delay in the next Safehold (I'm just starting re-reading all the existing Safehold novels); but really cheered up by the fact that we might get a mainstream Honor book sometime soon (ish!)
