It takes all kinds ….

For me snippets half the size but more often would be great.
Keeps the pressure high and the speculations going.
But are there enough cliffhangers?

A snippet doesn't have to end in a cliffhanger, y'know. :P

Shorter & oftener, or rather just as often, would work for me too ... then we can (lurk while watching others) play at completing the snippet de jure's interlocutor's sentences.

Can I ask what you mean by 'the new fantasy novel' in your sad post about the release date for HFQ? Is it Multiverse #3 or the start of a new series in the Bahzell universe or something else?

New series in Norfressa. If you go to the Wargod formum, I posted the prologue there a while back. I'm about 160,000 words into it,. I hoped to have it finished before Honorcon, b ut it doesn't quite look like I'm going to make it.

One year? Devastating news :(

Short snippets every ten days max 40% book or one longer one every month 33% of book.

My "vote"

Yes as much as I cry out for the fix of a snippet and feel gutted about waiting reading the book in one go is better than having most of it snippet-ed before.

But happy and grateful with whatever DW chooses

On Snippet frequency and size

Ignoring #3 which was an extra, the snippets are about 1500 words long on average. At one every 10 days, starting the 28th we would get another 39 before the middle of November 2015. That should come to around 58,500 words plus the c12,000 we already have, for a total of 70,500. That would be 30% of a book 235,000 words long.

Obviously I don't know how long HFQ is but unless it's a lot shorter than recent titles in the series, I would have thought we could get continue to get snippets of this size every 10 days till publication without getting any more than 30-35% of the book, which seems fair enough and not too far out of line with previous practice. :ugeek: Puleese??

Of course, the fact that would mean that I'd get a copy of it doesn't influence my offer of help.

Now Drak, stop trying to cheat...

At least this will be Baen and thus probable eArc and one of the monthly bundles and JOY 8-) , possibly even before HFQ! I do like the War God series so it is a Weber/RFC addiction fix.

Thank you. I think I still have some of the existing Norfresa books to catch up on too.

I can unfortunately report that as of today I've been officially informed that the release date for HFQ is November 2015. That's right; one year from next month.

The good news is that it gives me a bigger window to work on other projects --- like the new fantasy novel and the next solo Honorverse novel --- before I need to go back to work on Safehold. The bad news is that it's another 12 months till the book comes out. I'll probably go on snippeting a bit longer than usual --- mayhbe to the halfway point --- in the meantime.

sigh... ah well.

still - new honorverse book - great news :-)

If I can throw in my two-pennyworth on the snippetting - i'd prefer less often, so we goto the normal 1/3 thru the book on snippets. That way we have more fresh stuff on that magic day when the new book pops thru the front door :D

RFC,

My vote is for more snippets. I always start at the beginning when I actually get a book in my hands.

On another subject, kinds, when can we put an order in at Amazon? I don't find it.
