You, young man, have obviously not yet lived with a woman who is brooding...and ovulating. Accident, schmacksident.

That's sexist and entirely unfair.

...and also true at least part of the time.

OK, one for me.

I just did a re-read of Mission of Honor (it's better the fifth or sixth read) and during Detwiler's meeting with the leaders of the 11 other planets involved, all of the leaders are named, along with their systems they rule...except one.

Here's what I have:

Detweiler--Darius
Hurskinen-Mannerheim
Ford--Matagorda
Thompson--New Madagascar
Polanski--Line
Hitchckck--Visigoth
Kakadelis--Thrace
Stone--New Orkney
Monticelli--Comstock
Tarentino--New Bombay
Lucas--Denver
Kubrick-- ????

Just an 'oops' by the author, or did RFC want to reserve the location as a 'surprise' for us later in the series?

Hmmmmm.....

or "Uncle" Victor .....

Victor is MUCH more direct. Kevin is more subtle.

More like an oops than a surprise. Although Kubrick's system was not mentioned in the text, it was in the character list.
Mission of Honor, Characters wrote:Kubrick, Joan—Board Chairman, Maxwell Association, Maxwell System.
Boldface text is the author's.

It should be noted that David sometimes (accidentally?) puts information in the characters list (and other appendices?) before it comes out in the books. Someone else on these forums (can't remember who) pointed out that The Shadow of Saganami listed Honor as CO of HMS Unconquered, letting Honor wear the white beret of a starship commander before we saw how she was given it in At All Costs*.

*The copyright date of The Shadow of Saganami is the year before the copyright date of At All Costs.

Did any one notice all the names of famous film directors in that list.

I am sure that is all "just a coincidence"
just as one of St.Just's State Sec Generals was Stephanopholos and the Kalokainos shipping rep in Monica was named Clinton. just a coincidence.

Let the Flames begin.

I'd love to know if the Messan planners took prolong into account in their plans.

Yeah, RFC likes dropping those in the narrative, IIRC in one of his recent books he has a character named Hiliary Palin...

My own favorite is from Echos of Honor, where he introduces us to the Clarke System, with it's Planet Lois and Citizen Colonel White and Citizen Captain Olsen....you just know that the capital there is named Metropolis...

BTW, thank you VInce, I had missed that completely on Kubrick.
