I just send an e-mail to macmillan and asked for the date.
Got a reply after just one day. :)

Good Afternoon,

The current publication date for that title (ISBN 9780765321879) is 11/01/15.

Well, at least the following book should follow shortly after.

On a related topic, I am a retired librarian and publishers are famous in my mind for dog in the manger behavior. They cause a book to go out of print but refuse to release the rights. This was for books that were very popular. If this was a TV network, I would say that they are trying to do to Safehold what NBC did to Star Trek.

Now we know.

Is that English or American dating?
If English (the proper way of day/month/year), then it'll be Sunday 11th January.
If American (mixed up way of month/day/year), then it'll be Sunday 1st November.

American. We've been through this in the other thread, which was active just yesterday.

Either way, Sunday is a bit odd. Don't new books usually come out Tuesday?

We can hope it's just a placeholder date until their schedule is finalized. :)

Probably just the month in which it is planned.
In ISO date 201511.

Just because the date is a placeholder doesn't mean it is good news. Instead of advancing the release, they could decide to push it back further. :(

I can unfortunately report that as of today I've been officially informed that the release date for HFQ is November 2015. That's right; one year from next month.

I'm not sure why we're quite that late, since I handed the book in several months ago. but I did miss my original delivery date (for reasons TOR understood completely) and I strongly suspect it's because TOR has to commit to release dates sooner than Baen does and is more tightly locked into them when they do.

The good news is that it gives me a bigger window to work on other projects --- like the new fantasy novel and the next solo Honorverse novel --- before I need to go back to work on Safehold. The bad news is that it's another 12 months till the book comes out. I'll probably go on snippeting a bit longer than usual --- mayhbe to the halfway point --- in the meantime.
