Exactly, oh to be a fly (snarc) on the wall for that meeting. Clytahn may be explosive but I am curious if there won't be the beingings of panic among the Group of Four. The Church still potentially has the resources and manpower to turn this thing around but you know for the first time an inkling that they could actually lose must be growing in the back of there minds.

I wonder if Clytahn will try and go full out paranoid and start a second round of purges in the Church almost a French revolution or a Salem Witch Trial with everyone trying to be the first one to accuse his neighbor or co-worker before they are accused themselves of being a closet heretic or secret reformist. I could see a general collapse of civil society if Clytahn reacts the wrong way.

Just a few random thoughts!

Almost 700 miles in a 16 foot sailing dinghy

If Clyntahn does not have him executed as a Charisian spy, then that army Lt., should be given Thorast's job

A 6.5 meter boat did quite well finishing first on handicap and sixth overall against many much larger boats this year in the recent Halifax --> St. Pierre race. Definitely small for open ocean, though the boat is designed for such things.

This reminds me of the story of Ernest Shackleton during his ill fated Antarctic mission. After his ship HMS Endurance became ice bound, the took their life boats as makeshift sleighs, crossed over pack ice, sailed accross to a small island. From there, himself a few of his men sailed 800 miles to South Georgia island using one of the life boats. Accross the South Atlantic and some of the worst most dangerous ocean. They landed on the wrong side of the island, so the mountain climbed accross, finally reaching the whaling station there. A rescue mission was dispatched, and the remaining crew was saved. If I recall correctly, he didn't lose anyone.

That little snippet answered the question of how badly the Dohlar forces got chewed up. Also it hinted how nicely the Siddermark army is coming back with a vengeance.

I just hope Thirsk survives; I have a soft spot for him, even though technically he is an enemy he knows in himself he is on the wrong side ....

I think most of us like Thirsk. He is a man of honour and duty. There's been speculation in past threads that he might defect if he can save his family doing it. I however don't see that happening. He is too loyal to Dohlar, even if he disagrees with the kingdom's decisions.

Sadly, I don't think he makes it out of this alive. Either he will die in battle, going down with his ship and his navy, or he will be taken by the Inquisition. As the situation becomes more desperate, I wouldn't be surprised if the Inquisition becomes ever more ruthless and extreme, eliminating anyone deemed weak, ineffective, or just plain hesitant.

Thanks again for the bone oh great MWW. :D (Picture golden retriever with thumping tail even though I know that you are a cat person.)

Much as I am going to enjoy reading about the GI Clinton's next melt down; the chapter heading says that we are going to have a scene on board a ship in the EOC capital.

Yup - that spang to my mind - except of course, this lot was much nearer the equator, and Harchong is a pretty large target :-)

I don't think as many of the St. Kylmahn rifles will be making it to General Rychtyr as Thirsk thinks. They don't seem to be aware of Green Valley's winter offensive in the north. That may divert many of the rifles to the Harchongese forces in the Border States.

Either way, it should prove to be a nightmare for the CoGA leadership to decide where those weapons should go first.

And, let's not forget, that there are more EoC Army forces moving into the Republic and the Republics own army is still growning and being reequiped.

I guess that compensated for these guys' lack of sailing skill and knowledge!
