The Verifier is a publicly known artifact and was thought lost when Saint Everard (or however you spell it) died. In reality, the Wylsynn family just pretended it was lost.

It's unlikely the Wylsynns told any of the SoK about it, but it's likely the SoK have heard about it.

Of course, they'd be taking Merlin's word that the verifier is THAT artifact. Or they'd be taking Paitr Wylsynn's word if Merlin could get him to Nynian somehow.

Incidentally, there's no reason why Paitr SHOULDN'T still have the verifier. It was only ever a means to power the Paper Weight of Scheuler after all and I'm sure OWL could cobble together an alternate means of providing power. After all, he got access to its memory even if everything is encrypted.

No, the verifier is in his staff. The paper weight is in the cave. It was thoroughly researched by OWL and Nahrmahn as of the beginning of LaMA.

Well people have been saying the verifier was in the Cave. I just wanted to point out that there was no reason for it to be there.

What I find myself wondering is if there could be another verifier floating around... We really have no textev for it, but Kohdy was exposed to modern tech.

I doubt that another verifier survived to the 'present day' but that close to "Creation" another surviving verifier is certainly probable.

More likely is that Kohdy encountered the same verifier that was eventually passed down through the Wylsynn line -- assuming, of course, that he encountered a verifier in the first place.

A verifier, Don? Why stop there? What about a powered exoskeleton built into his armour, or a full tactical sensor suite built into the HUD in his helmet, or his cloak of invisibility? ;)

On another note, when does Nynian get to play with Merlin's katana?

The cynic in me says of course she can be trusted, or there'd be more books planned for the immediate story line. :D

When Nynian said that a lack of trust could end very badly for one of us she was just stating the obvious, not making a threat.

She may not even have been referring to a threat to her from Merlin, or vice versa. She may have been referring to the SSK's reaction to her revealing their existence to the EofC in the shape of Merlin.

Possible, I suppose, but not probable. Remember that these ladies have formed a cult around the memory of a Seijin. If Nynian shows up with a seijin in tow, I suspect the reaction will be favorable.
