I don't think so.. if memory serves, the basis for the Primary was 'discovered' during Kinnison's first (and only) trip out in the Britannia, when they had blown off the front end of the Boskonian ship with the Q gun, and the remainder were firing back. They overloaded their projectors attempting to take the ship out before they could get back to Prime Base with the secret of the cosmic energy receptors that were powering all Boskonian ships at the time. The Patrol later refined that basis, and put 'em on the new 'Mauler' class.
Hmm,haven't read that series for quite a while, maybe it's time. It'll give me something to read until our Esteemed Wizard's publishers release the next book. Well, excepting snippets and the discussions here,of course... SNIP
Not quite sure about that... I seem to remember that the Galactic Patrol had come across and wiped out a main base, and there were some satellite stations left, where indeed as you say, the trapped Boskonians overloaded the projectors to take some of the GP with them. I concur about the rest... Funny how ones memories varies I don't have the books anymore so no definitive textev on this absolutely crucial point
You,Sir,are absolutely correct! I dug up my oooold copy of the Galactic Patrol, and looked at the sections in question.Indeed, it wasn't in the first battle, it was in the final battle that occurred around Boskone's equivalent of prime base, in a small globular cluster off an arm of the galaxy, and they were satellite stations surrounding the system that Boskone had built up.After the fleet had destroyed the primary facilities they moved to mop up what was left and got slammed by the stations. This textev takes place in 'Grey Lensman'. Ahhh, when the universe was young and I was...um, nevermind ====================================

Music to my ears It's very nice [if highly unusual] to be right. Those were the days indeed - must have been over 40 years ago when I first read that series... gulp, that's scary. Old EE certainly had a wild eyed style to him - you could never accuse him of a lack of imagination or smallness of vision! |

So very true... Heinlein had a tale of him, about buying a used vehicle, in which 'Doc' put his head against the upright of the car,and RAH asked why. Doc replied that that was the best way to hear vibrations that you could not normally hear. RAH bought the car, after Doc called it clean. For the given life of me, I do not remember the ref I read that in: I just recall reading it. Aaaand now... we return you to the thread that this was previously supposed to be, as to 'How the Safehold series WON'T end' ====================================

Hi Caliban,
I believe that was in Expanded Universe 1979 from a '75 encyclopedia article excerpt about EE 'Doc Smith', and possibly blood transfusions. L
Any snippet or post from RFC is good if not great!

My first thought here is that to produce this effect, the substances may not have to be illegal!! Don - When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

I made the supposition that they are intelligent enough to go to the initial post. They are Safehold fans, i.e.. able to find the web site and navigate it, so QED should be able to smell the coffee! Of course, you have now helped the cause, so thank you! -----

Safehold fans navigating the internet? Heck, we're still riding 19th century trains and getting used to breech loading cannon... Don - When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.
