One thing that always fascinates me regarding characters is their middle names - or, sometimes, lack thereof. We've got everything from "Honor Stephanie (Harrington)" and "Thomas Edward (Theisman)" to "Gloria Michelle Samantha Evelyn (Henke)" and "Elizabeth Adrienne Samantha Annette (Winton)", but really, there's only a few characters for whom we know their middle names.

So, let's play a speculation game! What do you think your favorite character's middle name is?

I'll start off with the first Honorverse middle name to cement itself in my brain: Eloise Jehanne Pritchart.

For your edification, Joan of Arc signed her letters with the medieval French spelling of her name - Jehanne. I thought it appropriate.

So.... what do you think?

Nice one for Eloise and pretty damn close to what I imagined of Eloise Jayne Pritchart. I like yours better Rose.

Get a load of Stacey Hannah Hauptman. Don't you just like the way she rolls off cthia's tongue?

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Oooh, Hannah! How very Grayson of you!

Which of course demands that I share number two:

Abigail Esther Barbara Hearns.

....also now I totally have it in my head that Tom calls Eloise 'E.J.' in private because there's no way he'd ever dare use 'Ellie'.

(You see, RFC? If you don't give us middle names, we'll make up our own!! )

It hurts to bring her up but ...
Ragnhild Aleksei Pavletic (to borrow one of my sister's name).
It even goes well with Ragnhild's native name.

Oh, I like this, rose.

A few from me, some just from what I think at this moment and a couple that are nods to history....

James Edward McGuiness
Horace Stewart Harkness
Alice Harriet Truman
Mark David Sarnow
Ginger Rogers Lewis
Aubrey James Wanderman

Nice Hutch, except ...

I'm leaning towards Ginger Jana Lana Lewis

Lana Lewis gives that Lois Lane type alliteration.

Yana Katie Anna Tretiakovna.

Damn I'm good.

An aside:
Hey Duckk, we need a "pull the string pat yourself on the back" icon.

Along with a "kick yourself in the ass" icon.

A "shoe in your mouth" icon.

An "eating crow" icon.

A "box of tissue" icon.

And my personal favorite ...

"A white flag."

At least you spelled Harkness' assumed middle name correctly.

I have to admit, I'm stuck on the idea that Shannon Foraker's middle name is Marie, because I'm also stuck on the idea that she looks like the model of the same name.
