If you are wanting to attach links, use the URL button. the trick is to do (URL=link address)chosen words(/URL) , although the brackets actually used will be square. The link(s) will show up in red.

It's how I set up my current signature.

Hope this helps.

Followed your links, enjoyed both stories. The Tolkien tie in was great, a middle earth reality. I enjoyed Lyon even if you thought it was flawed, the ending a real tear jerker

As your stories both had 'lionmen' have you read the Pride of Chanur saga by C. J. Cherryh?

Thanks Poker, and yeah, back when I wrote it (in my naive and cynicism-free days), I did intend it to hit the heart at the end.
Still not sure why I did that. :?

Heh, maybe I might go through all my old files and see if any other original story is finished. I think I remember writing something about armoured space mercenaries...
I'll see if I can track it down.

As to the Chanur stories, I have read several of them and they were quite good. Preferred the Doona trilogy by Anne McCaffrey, though.

I'll weigh in with the others, if you really want to write, then write.

The amount of research a writer needs to do is up to them, of course, but perhaps you should decide just how much detail you need to know, how much detail the reader needs to know and how much detail that you as a writer need to show people. I can pretty much bet that most readers are not going to read so deeply into the story that they will be upset if you fail to mention the riveting pattern on the shield boss (and most of those types of fans will be satisfied when you write back saying "thank you for reading my story, I'm glad you enjoyed it and will remember your interesting comment for the next sequel"). Unless you are writing "Master and Commander" and need the Napoleonic era Frigate to "be" the character in the book, a surface knowledge of sailing should do.

I believe it was Tom Wolf who said the secret to his output as a professional writer was being able to write three finished pages a day without fail. That does not set the bar too high, and even the worst procrastinators (like me... ) should be able to hit the mark.

I'm saying links I mean my attached written work, also I'm worried that I would be taken seriously anymore with my posted story ideas

People vary. Some won't take your ideas seriously, some will. Why worry about those who don't take it seriously? Just ignore them and appreciate the useful feedback you get from others. While some people with Asperger's face communication challenges, often they are of above average intelligence and see the world from a different angle than most, so yes you may well have interesting ideas.

My 27th century space opera from the Kath point of view, has made some people here to have upset tummies.

This empire has 64 great noble houses which include the Imperial one, this is due to Base 8 math of this feline bipeds.

the culture and food is Imperial China, while Armed and space naval forces are based on Imperial Japan

Found it and posted it here!
:D
Reading it through... darn, I used to write bad.

Also, I gotta re-sort all my old files. Took me ages to find.

Edit - Found another ancient story and posted it as well. Please don't troll me too hard, it was written over a decade ago...

You may want to think about what type of space cat they are.
Most space-cats are based on lions due to their ability to form Prides. Solitary types may give better individual characters, but tend to fail to create viable societies.

As a predatorial race (as opposed to omnivore),they will undoubtably have an outlook verging on kill-or-be-killed with at least minor hints of bloodthirstiness and possible sadistic tendencies. The contrasts between this and the ability to co-operate required for a stable society would mean that a high degree of traditionalism and/or a hierarchical nature is needed, the latter meaning that by our standards, their society will appear to be rather right-wing.

After all, biology dictates culture to quite a high degree...

Good luck.
