Now, I know fanfiction is verboten and that even 'snippets' of times to come is not permitted on this board, for good and proper reasons that I do not challenge.
But what about things that we know have occured, but are not part of the textev? To give two examples: We know in MoH that Lester Tourville was still a POW, but in ART he was Commander of the reconstituted Third Fleet. Somewhere in there he changed status, and I remember writing a nice little treatment of how Lester found out about his change in fortunes.... Another is that we know in MoH that Admiral O'Cleary surrendered to Tenth Fleet and was going to have a meeting with Mike Henke and was next seen back on Earth, but we were never privy to that conversation. So I guess the purpose of this thread is two-fold. For most of us, mention that missing scene in the Honorverse you've doted on for lo these many years and document it here. For Duckk and RFC, would it spoil some vast and cosmic plan if we were to 'speculate' on events that are past history in the Honorverse in this one thread? Not looking to invent things that haven't occurred (yeah, I'm looking at you, roseandheather), just add a little bit or mortar to the Great edifice you have constructed. After all, if it's going to be another 15-18 months before the next part of the Honorverse, we could use some self-stimulation (wait, that didn't come out right....) Thoughtfully yours, ***********************************************

....wait a minute. You chide me for speculating on unfounded possibilities of characters' romantic lives (for which there is plenty of evidence, but I don't want to kill you all with a combination of boredom and sugar), but then you go and use the word "self-stimulation"?? ....yeah, I'm just gonna take that as license to speculate as much as I damn well please on what Augustus and Estelle might have been doing between the sheets (which is nothing, yet, because he's a moron and she's too patient for her own good), or on how Andrea Jaruwalski and Allen Higgins might have commiserated on the tortures of having the universe hate them (and then commiserated, if you know what I mean). In all seriousness, I still want the short story about how Iris and Harkness got together. And the one about when Theisman and Pritchart finally found out what their treecat names were. ~*~

Yep, utterly predictable...just like a woman.... *Hutch ducks and evades various flying pieces of crockery, and takes to his heels when rose picks up the waffle iron...* I would love that short story too, Rose, but the MWW is very adamant about fanfic like Iris and Horace. However, since we know from MoH about Tom and Eloise's treecat names and that they probably have been shared with them by this time (and if for some reason Honor didn't, once they learn sign they'll find out from their treecat companions), it would be interesting to hear your take on that.... But not until or unless RFC or his Chief minion Duckk says it would be OK. ***********************************************

I think it would be cool in RFC's abundanctly copious feel time if he were to accept fanfic, which he could alter where needed, to fill in those short one off stories. They could be published, with his editing, as the Worlds of Weber: The Fan Compilation.
he would set the paramaters for the stories, which must be followed to be considered, and reserved the right alter them to fit his verse's frame. Cause, you know, he has all that free time, doing nothing |

Hey, it worked for Eric Flint! This is truly awful of me, but I want to see Estelle's and Khumalo's reactions to New Tuscany, particularly Estelle's - I've had it in my head for ages that she and Dame Amandine were old friends, and I can imagine losing her would have hit hard. ....I just love the Talbott Quadrant and its entire cast okay??? ~*~

I don't think it'd be safe for me to speculate outside of my own four walls, but I'd sure like to know what has come of ...
Do tell me the Andermani has been very busy off screen, err pages. Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

I personally wouldn't mind seeing the Battle of Trevor's Star, which was being prepared for in Honor Among Enemies and had happened by the time In Enemy Hands began. For such an important battle, it seems a bit odd for it to have occurred completely off-screen. We know more or less what happened - sixth fleet under White Haven conquered the surrounding systems and then attacked, drawing the defenders away from the junction terminus to allow home fleet to transit in support - but I'm sure there'd still be an interesting tale to tell there.

I'll stamp this one too. But, you're really just saying that you'd like a detailed after action report. We know what happened. You just want it laid out. It was an X-Rated scene you see. Hamish was caught with his pants down and McQueen spanked that arse over and over and over, then rubbed it with alcohol. There weren't any baby chicks being pushed around in that system! Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father.
