I'm worry about posting new story setting in this forum

I I'm worried about posting my story settings on here, the last ideas got mocked badly.

If you don't want feedback and discussion then don't post, simple.
From memory I can't recall your ideas being mocked. I do remember several people pointing out that you would need a kind editor to sort out grammatical issues, and your short post here displays the need for that. If you do want to become a writer then please do post, but accept that all writers (even established ones) receive constructive criticism.

I'd recommend posting your story on this site and placing a link in your signature. That way, anyone who's interested can look (and give advice using the on-site reviews function).
I myself have written over a dozen stories (nowhere near Weber standards, though) and two of them have even been Troped!

If it helps, here are my author tips.

Hints for aspiring authors

- Do not post a story until you have written at least 6 chapters or half the story (whichever is less), and even then post it one chapter at a time. This buys you a safety margin should your muse decide to hide.
- Use the return button to separate descriptive passages and people talking. Large blocks of text can be difficult to read.
- Keep your tenses correct. Accidentally switching between past, present and future in a single paragraph destroys your credibility as a writer.
- Check your spelling. It's vrey anonyngi fi yuo dnot'.
- Chapters less than a thousand words long rarely work. Type at least two pages of A4 unless there's a specific reason otherwise.
- Too many flashbacks can spoil a story if not used correctly. It is very hard to do so and flashback stories are very rare as a result.
- Try to set things up before you need them in story. If a character uses a special sword, have him find it three or more chapters before he uses it.
- Sometimes, what happens offscreen is more impressive than what happens onscreen. Just remember to include several hints as to what occurred.
- Summaries are like minidresses. They should cover the important things, but be short enough to seize attention. Just don't do too many what if's.
- Finally, write what you enjoy. After all, you need the entertainment.

My only other advice is to read as much as possible, noting the tricks and tactics that authors use in their stories.

Secondly I get bogged down in Research phase, by the time I get out I don't want to write.

And that there will always be people who provides nonconstructive criticism or just flaming.

Then i would suggest that you change how you do things. Write up ideas before you do research, then polish it off later for example. Or write something that doesn´t require research at all.
Or try writing fanfiction first.

And a short attention span is something that can be improved, regardless why it exists.

Noone does, but it´s still going to happen even if you write the best novel that ever existed, simply because everyone like different things. And critique not just WILL happen, but SHOULD happen.

Never will I do Fan fiction, there are somethings that I will not sink too.


I want to be serious Writer, but like I stated before there some hurdles, I have enough problems without hassles from other people.

And yet quite a few authors started their career writing what can be considered fanfiction.

Timothy Zahn writes Star Wars books among other things and is often quoted as the one who turned Star Wars from a few films and several independent stories into an overarcing and coherant universe. In fact, he is often considered the quintessential fix-fic author.

Star Trek is another place where amateur writers hoping to go professional showed off their writing skills.

Fanfic allows you to practice the tricks of writing without needing to create a whole new universe each time.

Edit - Sometimes, professional writers will critique your work, giving you valuable info.
Or they will let you give them or their family a cameo in your latest story...

There are thousands of fanfic writers that have already proven themselves to be very serious writers, you keep talking about wanting to be, but so far you´re not impressing anyone by whining.

If you want to be a writer then for goodness sake START writing SOMETHING! That´s the only way to practise.
Coming up with a setting or backdrop has nothing to do with how to write.

The only things i´ve seen on this forum are people trying to be helpful, but you seem to just shrug that off and call it hassles, i am by now extremely unimpressed and i suspect that you are unlikely to write at all.

I'm a member of a fan fiction site that has a large number of stories on it by people who are amateurs at writing, but the writers there (I am one) do try, and a fair number of the stories are good. Others are less so, but there is encouragement and constructive criticism so the budding writers can improve. And even though it is a fan fiction site, there is a sub forum were we can give advice and there's one thread that gives the best advice out there for a writer. 'If you want to be good at it, write. It doesn't matter what subject you write about, just write]. Practice makes perfect.' Basically; 'Sit down and write'. Nothing I've seen is better than that.

So write a short story, write a few paragraphs. Take a scene from another book that you like, a scene that might bother you in some way and rewrite it. Find alternative ways to describe a scene. Find ways to be informative without being to wordy. read up on authors who can tell a story good (Mr. Weber is a damned good example). Write fan fiction or your own setting, short stories or long, but above all, WRITE! If you don't practice it, you will never improve much. And get used to criticism. The advice given in this thread is good, but you need to prepare for some bad criticism, so try to take it in stride and ignore the angry ones. You're never going to please everyone.

The other reason in don't post my writing if I wrote is that I could never find the buttons to attach my work on these forums,
