After Tenth Fleet has taken Meyers in SoF.

"[King Lawrence] would be prepared to accept that responsibility under the protection of the Star Empire of Manticore?”
Montview’s eyes flickered. For a moment, Michelle wondered why. Then it hit her.
“Forgive me.” She shook her head. “That was clumsily phrased."

A little bit of foot-in-mouth disease, Mike? Talk about a slip of the tongue...

Ashes of Victory
Even those who'd spent the least time in the custody of the Office of State Security longed to see loved ones once more, and unlike the escapees who'd spent decades on the planet inmates called "Hell," they could pick up the threads of the lives they'd feared they would never see again.

Prolong can really throw you a curve. Your spouse could have kids that the both of you didn't have when you were captured, that are now parents themselves, with kids. Your spouse is now remarried, many times, with kids galore. Prolong — a prolonged nightmare is a symptom. The tales side of a heads up coin.

This is only my second reading of AoV. Jealous are ye? :D

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

We're not simply escaped prisoners, huddled together like sheep while we run from the wolves. We are the "wolves" of this piece, and we, by God, want the universe to know it!

We plucked this chicken!
Them feathers; ours.

"It's good to be home."

Everyone knows, as the story is told, who uttered these golden words.

"Well, for one thing, just what the devil does 'ENS' stand for?"

White Haven to Honor just before he opens a can of worms. I'll pour the worms out in the musings thread.

Just how badly have I stepped on my sword, Andrew?"

From MoH:

It was, as always, delicious, and she thought yet again what a pity it was that MacGuiness made such splendid coffee when Honor couldn't stand the beverage.

So, Mac makes amazing coffee, eh? Just a little snippet of information that I found interesting. The implications of the statement are something I like to ponder now and then. Elizabeth and Honor have become so close that Beth knows both Honor's habits and Mac's.

That very well may explain why Elizabeth knows Honor's habits; however, she may know Mac's because an accomplished barista's excellence would surely precede him/her as it would here on Terra. Name "one" town where the wile of a good coffee house isn't well known.

But swimming a tube, even with only one arm, was something she could have done in her sleep, and she fell back on the almost instinctive skills of a forty-plus-year naval career.

My how time flies when Honor's having fun. It just doesn't seem like forty-plus years, yet even so, it seems like she'd be hampered by swimming a tube with one arm. Imagining it is a bit humorous.

No such thing. In fact, "good" and "coffee" should *never* be in the same sentence.
