I had earlier assumed that Charis would invade the border states since that's where the remains of the army of the Church of God Awaiting are marshaling. However, lyonheart has found a lot of detail on the map of Safehold added regarding Dohlar, so I'm now assuming Charis is headed there. Maybe Manthyr will get the first installment of his avengement. ~Tonto |

I think that the best way for Charis is to take Dohlar out now:
The Church states and Harchong have both too much Manpower and too much in-depht defense possibilities for Charis to be able to take them out any time soon. And while their main army has been destroyed, the same could be said (even in a lesser way) for Desnair. Desnair has also proved that it's unable to act effectively in regard to the new way of fighting a war (some might say that even in the old one, it was not shining...). Dohlar, however, has been constantly one of the most dangerous opposed kingdom, especially given it's size and population in regards of those from Harchong or desnair. It's soldiers and officiers have been much more efficient, innovations have been numerous, their army was the only one looking close to those deployed by Charis. Even the armies of the Church had pikemen and were lacking in artillery (Angle-guns). But Dohlar main army has been defeated and lost most of its soldiers, they are rushing reinforcement to the front, yes, but it is not sure if those men have been sufficietly trained with the new weapons. IMO, a strong push could brush aside the dolharan army assembling itself on the border (even if reinforced by the survivors of the army of Ahlverez). Charis may not have the Manpower to military occupy Dolhar, but if they can create an opening by pushing the dolharans soldiers out of the way, they could slip parties of cavalry men, with the mission to wreak havoc in the countryside. Burning fields, undefended warehouse, mining facilities, bridges, canal locks,... would lead to a very difficult situation for the dolharans: tying up a lot of men inside the country, in order to either defend, repair or compensate the destructions, disrupting the economy and the production of both weapons and food,... They may very well then sue for terms... And it's the only country that can be beaten so "easily", despite the fact that they proved so efficient all along the war. |

was thinking same thing but thought about the time constraints with the angels return maybe a quick strike against temple while fortifying boarder might be better option |

I think Charis is getting ready to hit Dohlar, hard, with the King Haraahlds. Beyond that I think they will seize/liberate Silkiah, and make forays into the borderlands. At which point peace will disastrously break out just in time for our time skip, which we know is coming in about 2 books. (It wouldn't be exactly unheard of for a future book to become 2 or so books for RFC)
