Seijin Kody's apparent ability to walk through walls could be explained by the possession of a portable stealth field like Merlin has. Seijins were apparently given some Federation tech to aid them.

I keep expecting Merlin to mumble whenever Seijin Kohdy is mentioned "that damned showoff". But yes, this does indicate that Seijin Kohdy was perhaps real, that the tale of his deeds grew in the telling and that for some reason his name was expunged from the testimonies as a Seijin. |

I find it curious that Aviah was watching Merlin practically from the moment he came on the scene. Also as an aficionado of Sejins it was as if she was looking for one to appear. Merlin obviously had studied the histories but Aviah surprised him with a statement she declared as fact but it seems Merlin did not know.
“No, he isn’t,” she agreed, and her expression was suddenly much grimmer, her tone darker. “All of those ‘official’ seijins are saints of Mother Church, and he’s not listed there, either . . . now.” SNIP Aviah seems to be a true and faithful soul that wants to put the Church back on track. What, I wondered when I heard the first reports about your . . . astonishing capabilities, was a seijin doing in the service of a clearly heretical church and empire?” SNIP Well, given the difference between the heretical church in question and what that pig Clyntahn and his precious Group of Four had done to Mother Church, it didn’t take me long to conclude that you represented a fairly emphatic statement of divine disapproval of their actions.” Her smile disappeared. “And, to be honest, I found myself wondering what had taken God so long.” SNIP She also has the Reformist attitude toward faith and the individual relationship with God that is not apparent anywhere but in the Church of Charis and the Empire. Her battle is not with the Church but with the current management. And whether or not you chose to proclaim any semi-divine status of your own, you were clearly on the side of God.” “where I was able to add my own modest efforts to those of all those people fighting openly to bring down Clyntahn and the others.” IMHO I believe she is widening the circle of those trying to bring down Clyntahn and the others to her organization and beyond. Perhaps another inner circle of antiquity watching the Church and waiting for . . . . something or someone. Could she be part of a Group that is based on Sejin Khody’s legacy? Her distinct efforts are Roles she plays and keeps separate from who she really is in truth. and a woman in my profession — or in Ahnzhelyk Phonda’s, at least And Ahbraim and I — well, Ahbraim and Frahncyn Tahlbaht, I suppose — I believe Merlin must ask Aviah the Question “Who are you. . . Really?? It will be a great conversation but how long will it go on before Merlin calls Caleb into the fray? You tell me yours and I will tell you mine is the next stage but Aviah will have to be first, obviously she has the attitude and understanding to accept the truth & perhaps knows some of the truth. But will she be sent to the monks in Tellesburg (what consternation that would cause) or will the Monks be bypassed again and the story laid down outside of their control? I am not young enough to know everything!

All this speculation about Nynian Rychtair and no one has yet sailed remotely close to the shores of truth.
She is a vampire! Its obvious. Am I the only one who sees this? She lived at the time where the Church of God was turned to the Church of God Awaiting, that transformation violated her sense of justice so badly she turned vampire. One if the reasons Langhorne did not want PICAs around was that he and Bedard are camps who did not want competition. Nynian is actually Bedard. She survived the nuke and after a very long recuperation period, she took on the facade of Nynian Rychtair. Both the original and current iteration. Really, guys! Open your eyes to the textev! |

Nah, she's a shape-changing dragon.
The surviving member of her kind. They once ruled all of Safehold until a cosmic accident wiped them out leaving only her. When the terraforming fleet arrived, she was in deep morning and didn't notice it until the work was almost done. Shan-wei and Kau-yung convinced her to allow humans to settle Safehold and she promised to watch over humans. After Shan-wei and Kau-yung's deaths, she went into a series of deep sleeps awaiting the time of Nimue's awaking. While she won't interfere in human affairs in her true form, she has in the past taken human form to assist humans. In her latest wakening, she took the form of Nynian Rychtair (who had died in childhood) to wait for Nimue's coming. Oh, while she won't destroy the Church with her full power, she will deal with the OBS and the returning Archangels.

Naah, she's far too cute to be a vampire. Besides that she's missing the necessary teeth... Gotta have the teeth to be a vampire. Don When any group seeks political power in God's name, both religion and politics are instantly corrupted.

I'm thinking it may not be such a good idea to bring Aihvah into the inner circle. Reading the first snippet she comes off as very devoted to God and revealing the truth to her may be very devastating to her beliefs which can make things very ugly for EoC.
The content of the first snippet opens up a lot of interesting possibilities where the story is going, I can't wait to get my grubby little hands on the book and waiting until summer 2015 is going to be pure torture. May you live in interesting times RFC! --- Jack of all trades and destructive tinkerer. Anyone who have simple solutions for complex problems is a fool. |

Perhaps I'm being too subtle, but Aivah seems to know things about "Seijin Khody" which Merlin does not.
This then means to me that Seijon Khody was "created" AFTER the database supplied by the Peis was laid down as Merlin only seems to know the "public domain" stories, presumably learned from the literature available to him after Nimue Alban's "reawakening". |

In the spirit of Dean's original post, I will submit an honest "Am I crazy?"
Either Aivah is never let into The Inner Circle and works her will independent of Merlin or she is told but doesn't believe and succeeds in evading capture. I could see her group acting against the G4 but not really supporting the CoC. Perhaps like Ahrmagian Satanist of Prince Roger fame. I would love to see that sort of honest disagreement between principled characters. |

Don, all I want to say is extendable canines. What sort of vampire in the futures wouldn't have them? However, Drak's draconic speculation has merit.
