Howdy,
I'm a recent convert to the 'Weberverse', a mate told me about the Honour Harrington (HH)books about 18 months ago. Since then I've been a fan! I have the the whole HH series + the "side stories" (Honourverse with E. Flint) What order do I read them in? I finished "At All Costs" then read "Torch of Freedom" (which seems to be mostly Concurrent with "At All Costs")) Next up (in order of Publication) are "Storm from the Shadows", "Mission of Honour", "A Rising Thunder"& "Shadow of Freedom" Your thoughts please Regards Mike_D_Oz |

Publication order works, especially for where you're at in the series.

Seconding the recommendation for publication order. Wikipedia has a listing of short stories and novels by internal chronology, but that's much better for a re-read since some of the short stories were published later but are set earlier and give away or rely on major plot points. Definitely go by publication order - that's usually a safe bet for just about anything. And welcome to the forums! I'm Rose, your friendly neighborhood character Cupid. Your reading order looks good from what you have read, but you might want to start with On Basilisk Station That will help understand refrences to a shared past that might have confused you being in the middle See order of here:
http://honorverse.wikia.com/wiki/On_Basilisk_Station The first two books available in various E book forms from Baen Books free are: http://www.baenebooks.com/p-304-on-basilisk-station.aspx And http://www.baenebooks.com/p-211-the-honor-of-the-queen.aspx down load RTF save in MS word on a main frame is the way I do them. Thanks for the advice! BTW, something my original post didn't make clear was that I've read everything from "On Basilisk Station" up to "Torch of Freedom" in (mostly) the correct order. I've also read his collaborations with Steve White. Also very cool!
Regards Mike_D_Oz 17/8/14 Further to my Post above, I'm about 1/3 through "Storm from the Shadows". Whilst both "Torch" & "Storm" were published in 2009, events taking place in "Storm" *pre date* events in "Torch" so it seems I've gotten things arse-about. Oh well, we live & learn! Well i've just finished "Cauldron of Ghosts". Withdrawal symptoms are starting to set in. Anyone have any idea when next book is due to be published?

David hasn't started working on the next book. Last I heard the earliest would be 2015.

For a long time nothing in main story line. "A Call to Duty" which is already available is a prequel.

I would suggest starting over from the beginning. That's what I did quite a few years ago when I first read the series - had everything up to AAC, finished that one, and immediately went back to OBS. About the time I finished my second read-through, the next book was out. =================

Have you read the Worlds of Honor collections? They a lot of good little backstory fill ins. Also, as mentioned by vovchara above, there is the first in the Manticore Ascendant series, A Call to Duty, which is set back in the early days of the kingdom, around the time of the first wormhole being discovered. |
