Verge Resistance Movements

This post has to do with resistance movements inspired by Firebrand and other Mesa operatives at least two of whom have been identified as Clambake and Partisan. Since we have been discussing the consequences to Manticore’s reputation about failing to assist resistance movements she is perceived to have promised to help, I thought I would sort through and learn as much as I could about these movements from the reader’s point of view. The information here is based in Shadow of Freedom. You will notice that there are a few blanks in my information and it could be that I skimmed over the top of them. The movements listed are the ones we know about, but not necessarily known to Manticore. The implication is that there are other movements out there not known to the reader or Manticore. Also we know from Henke’s experience in Myers that Manticore will be welcomed in places where there is no resistance movement. At any rate, here is the list along with a thumbnail sketch of the situation.

Fate of Resistance Movement: Unresolved

Mobius
Head of Government: President Svein Lombroso
OFS Tie in: League Trade Attache Angelika Xydis
Transstellar: Trifecka

As a postscript, if you know of a group I missed, please feel free to add on. These are the ones noted in SOF.

Montana liberation front and the Freedom Alliance of Kornati? Granted they were targeted against Manticore, but the same, lets make Manticore look like asses on an intergalactic stage, run by the same mesan agent.

I think any list given in the books will be woefully inadequate. There's likely going to be hundreds if not thousands of resistance/freedom movements in the Verge and Protectorates. I got the impression that was kind of the plan all along from the MAlign to keep the former SL worlds (more or less outside of the Core that is) in disarray so the RF would be able to get systems to voluntarily join the RF as an organization/star nation that is bringing peace and order to a now very chaotic universe. The resistance/freedom movements will be causing the chaos that is needed.

The ones that I was thinking about for the purposes of this thread were the ones given hope by Mesa agents that Manticore would intervene on their behalf in the hope Manticore's reputation would be damaged when there was no response. While I'm sure there are more of these movements than we know about, it seems a bit unlikely that every liberation in the verge would fall into this category.

I agree that as the grip of the League weakens, these movements will spring up like weeds even without specific encouragement from the Alignment.

Another piece of information that might be useful is whether they are officially Solarian protectorates. Swallow and Mobius are not protectorates; I'm not sure yet about the other two.

It can't really be thousands, because the usual estimate of the number of systems under OFS control is only a couple thousand. It could be hundreds, but I would guess that the Alignment has their finger in only dozens, at most.

There could be a lot of tiny little movements. Many/most of which will be run by the secret police.

Ah, true, if you are counting each individual movement on a planet. The People's Liberation Front, the People's Front for Liberation, the Liberation Front of the People, Front for the People's Liberation, etc.

Not to mention the Popular Liberation Front, Populist Front for Liberation and Popular Front for Liberation.

Seriously, if Manticore keeps putting our fire's like this, they will be portrayed as "Imperialist"(They do call themselves an Empire, and everyone knows Empires are bad.) by the Solarian media. Furthermore this plays right into the MALignment's hands by exhausting Manticore's assets.
