Also hilarious is this description of a cranky Khumalo in TSoS: "...Khumalo rumbled like an irritated boar."

It probably doesn't speak well for my sense of self-preservation that my first instinct is to cuddle the cranky Admiral...

I don't agree. Anton Zilwicki is the winner of this category, by far...he has this terrific way of needling his partners, first Jeremy and thereafter Victor, that drives them absolutely up the wall and make me just want to HOWL.

Murder in job lots. 0h RFC, what goes on in your head?

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

She had the authority to do that to any ship which refused to allow her examination, with or without probable cause, should she so choose, but it was an action she would have to justify to the Admiralty, and she could just see the headlines it would provoke. "rmn expels merchant ship with defective drive." "freighter sent to die in hyper by heartless manticoran officer." "haven protests harrington's inhuman expulsion of damaged freighter."

And that would have been the more positive news service Honor.

"Aside from that, his only recommendation for command is that he has a pulse."

Al-Fanudahi summarizing Filareta's command abilities. And he was one of the smarter Solly officers...

Considering that Oversteegen insulted Cottage Cheese in his last comparison.

She walked into the lift with her treecat, and McKeon stood for several seconds, looking at the door which had closed behind her and wondering why her smile had frightened him so.

This line always got me. Is there a bit of a sadistic nature in Honor?

It's on Mr. McKeon. It is on!

“Harrington's back from the grave, Cathy. Don't you understand—yet—how much that changes the political equation?”

"Oh, he didn't blow up any of her ships, Rajani," Kolokoltsov said coldly. "Despite the fact that she had only six battlecruisers and he had seventeen, she blew his flagship into . . . what was it you called it? Ah, yes! Into 'orbital debris.'"

Abigail saw Ragnhild Pavletic and Aikawa Kagiyama go absolutely rigid. Their eyes were suddenly huge, and she rather thought they'd both forgotten to breathe.

Avirs Terekhov always seems to know make most profound statements in the simplest of terms. I love these gems during his conversation with Brigadier Yucel in Chapter 31 of Shadow of Freedom

“Why is it,” Terekhov asked conversationally, “that people like you always think you’re more ruthless than people like me?”

“I can’t say it’s been a pleasure speaking to you, Brigadier,” Terekhov replied. “Educational, yes, in a disgusting sort of way, but not a pleasure. In fact, I’m just as happy we won’t be speaking again.”

“Good,” she said. “Now get the fuck out of here before I change my mind and decide to shoot a couple of dozen of them to hurry you on your way!”

“Oh, I’m not afraid of that,” he assured her. “In fact ,” he raised his wrist and glanced at his personal chrono, “you should be receiving my response to your terms”— those ice-blue eyes flicked back to her face—“ just about now.”
