Nynian Rychtyr

This is a name that Aviah and a mythical Helen of Troy type figure from Safehold share. I know it has been brought up and dismissed by many in earlier threads but it is a valid question.

How old is Aviah? With Prolong type treatments and/or nanites, she could be fairly ancient. Her history is not that firm and certainly subject to an author’s capricious creativity. PICA is another possibility. I joked in a previous thread that Aviah was a Pica of one of the old Sejins previously male while Merlin being a female they developed a romantic involvement, but is that so far out of possibility? RFC does have a perverse and pleasant sense of Humor. Nimue does deserve to have an intimate friend to share her/his burden! A Merlin/Aviah marriage would be a heck of a storyline!

Could she be the Nynian of Safehold history that was kidnapped(?) and started another great war. Could she be a Sejin of past history? How did she garner the political power, wealth and influence to accomplish what she has accomplished?

Archbishop Erak's wife (who's name escapes me right now) is Nynians biological cousin and adopted sister. From a conversation in BSRA, we know she was adopted as a baby by the parents of Archbishop Erak's wife, after Nynians father (an Archbishop or Vicar at the time, he later became a Grand Vicar if I remember correctly) refused to acknowledge a bastard daughter. Her adopted parents named her Nynian because they thought she was as beautiful as the original Nynian. Her back story from birth - early teens is established.

The question is what happened at the convent she was sent to when her biological father became the Grand Vicar.

Edit: Actually, I think it's foster sister, not adopted. It's been a while since I read BSRA.

From what I remember Foster would be the more accurate term but it doesn't really matter since they considered each other sister.

I imagine it truly amazes RFC how some simple declarative sentences that make sense to most readers can get so twisted when desperate fans try to determine what sneaky tricks RFC has hidden in plain sight, when he honestly didn't set us up in such cases.

But then it wouldn't be so much fun for him!

I am sure he has nothing in the way of twists and abrupt turns or plot acrobatics hidden in plain sight. Straight forward dialog and everything makes sense!
